Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
I have never heard this. Please elaborate. |
Then you have to give up your reproductive rights. Deal?
|
All you need to do is do a search on DCUM for this school and you will see how crazy the parents are. |
Ok, but I meant I haven’t heard that they can’t find a full time teacher because of parents. Please elaborate on that. |
| I miss the former AP - he was fantastic. |
| Navy loves bald dudes. |

Navy has a lot of entitled parents. They think that because they have money and chose a “good” school pyramid, everything should be exactly how they want it. Not sure why they think this mentality works in a large public school district. I guess it did work to some extent with the previous administration, so some parents came to expect it. I do think there’s a bit of a divide between parents of kids in upper grades who remember the “old” Navy before Covid and before the admin change, and those with younger kids who don’t have any basis for comparison.
That being said, I have heard from people who aren’t at all entitled that 6th grade is a mess. It is what it is. Navy has been pretty spoiled until recently. No reason to feel we should be immune to the problems in FCPS and public education as a whole. I wish the loudest complainers would just go private. And no you don’t get a voucher, lol. Just proving your entitlement. Suck it up like everyone else who makes this choice. |

Navy is one of those schools where the PARENTS run the school or at least try to do so.
|
That's how every school should bem |
I agree. I don't understand where all the parent hate is coming from. I frequently see posts like "I'm not a navy parent, but navy parents are crazy." No they aren't. They are advocates for their children. Sure, some few may be overzealous, but I think that comes with being an AAP center, there are a lot of parents with very high expectations which until recently, the Navy administration has delivered on. I saw a previous post about the former AP that was beloved and sent away to a new school that is so lucky to have him and he is now principal. He took several great teachers with him. I miss him and those teachers. All are wonderful people that the vast majority of parents would welcome back with open arms. |
Stuff it, lady. Move along and get a life. Everyone has a right to an education and having a teacher is necessary for that. |
Parents should not run a school. Educators are not customer service representatives. Advocating is good, but as you mention some parents do not have realistic expectations for the current environment. Parents are thinking of their own kid(s); educators have to think about everyone and they can only do so much with limited resources. We can all wish for the good old days at Navy, but they’re not coming back. School has changed for the worse since Covid. We and our kids are not special, and we can’t expect not to feel the effects of a teacher shortage and low morale in the profession. It’s easy to blame the current admin but that’s not the only thing that has changed. Believe me I am not impressed with admin and am worried for how many more teachers are probably going to leave in the next few years. They aren’t exactly making a tough situation better. But some parents are over the top and that’s not going to help anyone. |
^Crazy and nasty Navy parent Exhibit A |
You're talking about yourself again. To expect that your kids have a teacher is not a crazy or nasty thing. It should be a given, obviously you think otherwise so you are crazy and nasty. If your kids have teachers, then good for you, it's time for you to move along. Go back to worrying about your reproductive rights. |
I'm not the same poster you were apparently responding to earlier about reproductive rights. But what a lovely thing to say. I think I am seeing part of the problem with 6th grade. Apples not falling far from trees. I wouldn't want to teach your kid either. |
