Oh, our HS offers multivariable calc after calc BC, but I guess not all the FCPS schools do. |
I don't think the highschool would be under any obligation let them take precalculus when they wouldn't have had taken an official algebra 2 course through FCPS. |
High schools usually start an hour or so before middle schools for busses, maybe you can find an early morning class |
Not in FCPS, MS start before HS. My kids HS starts an hour before his HS will. |
Not in FCPS. Better option would be to try to find a HS with a last period Algebra II. The kid should have a good 30 minutes to get from middle to high school. |
Differential equations comes after multivariable. Algebra II in 8th Precalc in 9th Calc BC in 10th Multivariable in 11th Differential in 12th. |
You have absolutely no way to know this. |
Yes, that's what I was saying. It's not dual enrollment until AFTER multivar |
No it doesn't. Calc 2 is the prerequisite for diff eq. |
Geez, we need more posters like you. So many people here are treating this parent like a criminal. They are on the AAP board so they couldn't be against the idea of academic advancement, right? The parent is not acting entitled or saying her kid is better than your kid, so I don't get it. |
Can it be any nearby high school or only a high school into which Kilmer feeds? |
It could be any FCPS HS, but the county will not provide transportation. |
But FCPS picks it, not OP. |
They do? |
An update: after a meeting with the principal and head counselor where the parents of rising 8th graders made their concerns known, the school made the decision to offer Algebra 2 in person this year. A great outcome and much appreciation for the flexibility and openness KMS showed. It really is a very good school. |
