Unmmmmm Barnsley Gifted Center needs a 4th grade teacher and it's a long term sub not even a permanent teacher. That's messed up. Kids are getting bussed in for that? Oh hell no

If you don't want the spot, I'm sure someone else will happily accept it.

It's only for a month, and it's teaching math, which isn't CES-specific.

I notice that many of these positions are part time - .6 FTE or .2 FTE or whatever. Are teachers just expected to cobble together the equivalent of 1.0FTE? I could see that happening more easily at the ES school level - three days a week at one school, two days at another school for a specialist, for example. But how does it work in MS and HS, where classes are every day? You do the morning in one school and the afternoon in another? Are you given an extra planning period for travel? This seems like it would be terrible for teachers if not.

For those saying this looks better than last year, some of this is strategic on the part of MCPS. Special education teacher and SLP caseloads are unreasonably high—with no possible way to meet all of the legally required hours. However, by keeping those caseloads so high, it gives the false illusion that they aren’t as short staffed as they really are.

Yeah they were trying to make budget cuts and then temper it with figuring out how many people were going to retire but I think they underestimated how many people wanted to get out

If they need a long-term sub it might be because the regular teacher is out on leave

It took me several years to get hired by mcps despite my degree being in demand. I ended up contacting somebody in the central office department that oversees my job field to help advocate for my application to get through to the pool of applicants
