Gaithersburg HS has always had the cosmetology program run out of that school....it's not new.

I'm curious - how many years have they had this?

I just looked and there’s almost no full time teaching jobs available, at least in our area. Lots of coaching and para educator part time positions. Anyone want to coach Bocce?

Not sure, but the program was up and running back when I was an MCPS high schooler in the '90s.

As long as you have a college degree and a clear background check, you’re good to go!

The pay scale does not work like that.

The pay scale is pretty open. I don’t know any school secretaries that want to start at around 38-40k though. Of course, each group is tiered differently but there are so many para jobs where in the job title it says no benefits. Way to turn ppl off immediately.

What kinds of jobs are you applying for?

Admin adjacent. I could possibly get hired for k-5 but the classroom will have me pulling my hair out by the end of October. I also don’t want to get moved around each year depending on enrollment. If you hire me for 3rd, let me teach third.

Please chose a non-teaching job.

It was running and considered to be pretty established when I was a student at GHS in the late 1980s.
