What? I guess I could apply. I don't have a teaching back ground though

As a teacher and a parent, I agree that the previous administration had what will be a lasting negative impact on staffing. I can also assure you that parents have had a huge impact. The amount of time spent with entitled and demanding parents is mind blowing. The large majority of parents I work with are collaborative and supportive. However, the handful who aren’t suck up an unsustainable amount of time and energy….which ultimately impacts other students (as teachers are frequently pulled from their classes for meetings). I’m all for parents being the greatest advocate for their child, but it has to be within reason.

Again, I’m a parent in the system also so I understand wanting what is best for your child, but educators are spread SO thin that many are hanging on by a thread! There needs to be a culture shift in MCPS ASAP or these vacancies will continue to grow!

Ironic after they forced many to leave and retire.

Yea… these are either for show/internal/or the pay is too low that no one will take them. I’ve actually been tying to join Mcps like an idiot but the jobs I’ve been going for keep going to internal people

I guess that explains why the MCPS newsletter has a message about 42 teachers from the Philippines having been hired as part of a "cultural exchange".

Those poor teachers are in for a huge culture shock when they experience the utter lack of discipline in MCPS schools.

I'm grateful we have them as qualified professionals teaching our kids. Class sizes are ginormous.

Are they truly hiring because what happened to all the layoffs and scandal from late spring?

I scanned this quickly and most of the jobs posted seem like part-time gigs (paraeducators and athletic coaching)

What kinds of jobs are you applying for?

Wow, Gaithersburg HS has an opening for a cosmetology teacher. Good on that school for providing that. Not everyone is inclined to academics.
