Same or more, with HHI of $500k. We splurge on annual vacations, business air to Europe, luxury hotels, etc. I also do credit card points for domestic travel (travel sports for DS) but not to the extent of the PP who churns. Need to refocus on that since travel costs have shot up. |

Family of 3
About 30-45k HHI 1.2 mil |
| Don’t have a strict budget but I would guess $15k on an income of about $330k. It goes far though because we also do the travel points stuff with credit cards. |

HHI $25,000
Travel: $1000 yr, mostly for trips to/from colleges and day trips. Cannot afford overnight trips. |
+1 Sounds just like us. We also like to plan our own trips and hit spots right before busy seasons. We've started doing "where the ticket takes us" trips. Last year we started make plans for this past Spring. Tickets to the southwest US for us were coming up like $600 each. (We prefer regular seat and non-stop). We then found tickets to Ireland for ~$475 each. We had a great 12 day trip to Ireland and being that it was before busy season everything was more reasonable. |
| Around 25k. Income is 470k with two kids in college. |
|
HHI: Variable between $500K and $5M / yr
Travel Budget: I don't have one but I own my own twin-engine airplane to travel extensively around North America and those costs easily surpass $100K/yr. Outside North America, I'm guess $50K per year. |
| I think we spent about $40-$45k this year, which I think is too much on our $520k HHI. Anyone else spending about this much as well? |
HHI about $450k We go on one trip a few hours away with friends about $3k. We visit family for 2 weeks at the beach, we usually use miles to fly. We spend about $1k when we are there. We have annual ski passes ($2k, family of 4) and we drive w our dog and stay in hotels when we go to our second home in park city about 6 weeks a year. $1k but often used points We usually take one hotel type vacation and spend about $6-7k. $12-15k for 10 weeks of travel. We don’t take a ton of intentional trips yet but our kids are young. I would like to plan some more vacations later |
| HHI around 550k and we spend around 30k on three one-week annual trips. Kids' sports travel added another 5k on top of that when my kids were in HS. And once they are in college playing sports, we spend about 2-3k going to their games each year. |

350k (well, this year I took on a side project so 370k). This year 25k, most years more like 15-20k.
budget and travel costs have increased as kids are older (tween and teen) and need more space and eat more but also I feel the window to interesting travel with them closing as they get older. When they were little we just visited family and went to the beach, like one all inclusive a year (hey, it works with kids), and one california trip a year. Now we want to do more things. From Spring 24-Spring 25 estimated to be about 25k. A little higher than normal because last year we didn't travel much and in fact rebooked our spring costa rica tix to this coming december and stayed home. this is what we have done/are planning spring break--stayed home. June Long weekend away in n carolina (DH and I) about 1k. Aug: obx Beach Week: we share a house with friends and drive, so it ends up being about 3 k (house is 1750 each, which is cheap, and we tend to cook and not go out for every meal). 1 california trip to see family: costs are low, since we have a place to stay, an extra car, share meals, etc. Maybe 1k for a 5 day trip this year ? Visiting a parent who has so many miles and can't travel anymore so they bought all the tix on miles. 2 Big Trip this year. xmas: costa rica--total expected to be 8-10k (rescheduled flights from spring)--renting an air bnb for the first half and staying in a rustic lodge on the osa for the second, so lodging costs are not very high. Car rental and internal flights and activities are expensive though. Summer: next year we are looking at about 10 days-2 weeks in slovenia and croatia-about 10-12k (only because we are using points for 3 out of 4 flights). I will add that I love to plan travel and spend an inordinate amount of time searching google flights and reading reviews and finding the best "prix-qualite" ratio. We dont care about luxury travel at all, would rather do more trips in a year while traveling modestly than fewer high end resort things. Which is why I am surprised at the people who have a HHI 4x ours and dont travel much. |
This is peak DCUM. |
| HHI is $800. We don’t budget but spend about $30 - $100k a year on travel. |
| We don't have a budget, and I just quickly totaled our estimated travel costs over the past year - I'd say about $45k. HHI $1.2M. |
Lol +1. |
