No one said the hurricane was his fault; however, his failure to grant the major disaster declaration in a timely manner is absolutely his fault. “I am disappointed that President Biden is turning Hurricane Beryl into a political issue,” Patrick said on X. “We had a cordial call today that ended up with him granting my request for a major disaster declaration. But that’s not good enough for him. He is falsely accusing me that I was not reachable. He obviously did not know his own employees from FEMA were side-by-side with me for 3 days! There will not be enough resources to go around. The states that did not lift a finger to prevent this situation will battle for resources with the states that did want to put effort into prevention. And in a triage situation, Texas is a goner. Texas is terminal and needs palliative care, not resuscitation attempts. |

The hurricane was predicted for ten days before it hit. Abbott scooted out of there and went to Asia on a previously arranged junket instead of sticking around and Governing. Federal response requires a request and paperwork and signature of the actual Governor of the state that is requesting the handout. Abbott wasn't even in the United States. The failure is all his. |
