What cuts do you know of at specific schools?

I don’t think Pyle lost an English teacher. At least, I don’t think one has been told to find a placement elsewhere.

Unfortunately, you’re wrong. It’s one of the sixth grade English teachers. The only male one if that helps you.

Yes, but wasn't that an earlier cut? Going to HS?

Are there any cuts at Loiederman, Banneker, or Blake?

There will be no cuts. This is all a ruse to get people to agree to another tax increase.

So will the involuntary transfers stay put?

No? They need to find open positions.

There are involuntary transfers. My friends have been cut left and right, they all are now looking for a spot. This is not a ruse. It affects teachers who may not be able to find a school near their home or within their cert. area.

Wheaton HS principal’s email to staff 6/6:

“Good morning,

This is a quick note to make sure everyone has the same information. WHS had a 2.0 FTE reduction in staffing for the 24-25 school year. We were able to absorb the cuts by not filling a current vacancy and a recent staff resignation. Therefore, no WHS staff member was put on the involuntary transfer list[…]

The Staff Development position was reduced to a .6 at all high schools. The good news is that we were able to add a .4 allocation to the position to make it a 1.0.”

I have friends who work in all different elementary schools. From the four other people I've spoken to, we have all lost at least one classroom teacher for next year. At my school, we're going from four 3rd grade classes to just three for next year. Apparently they had already made the classes for next year so the second grade team has to meet again to remake the classes but fold the kids into three sections. Our least senior teacher works in fifth grade so she's being put on an involuntary transfer list and the fourth 3rd grade teacher is moving up to 5th to take her vacant spot.

Montgomery County is expected to have an increasing population. Roughly 2.5-3% a year.

I don’t know how that affects local birth rates or numbers of students but we should not be compared to countrywide averages.
