| Our refs were good the past two days - far better than our regular season games. I didn’t think it was that hot but we finished by 1 both days. |
| Trash refs, trash tournament, fields are awful and not set up, the balls weren't even pumped and players played with flat balls |
| Not a single field we were on had actual corner flags. |
| Can’t believe I am reading a generally positive opinion on refs on DCUM. I agree, 2 of the 3 refs we’ve had were pretty good, the other one was about the same as other youth refs ie not very good. But even the one who wasn’t that good at least looked like he paid attention (also looked very bored but w/e) and was dressed like a ref and not like a random hobo. |
Where can we give positive feedback? I know refs are unfairly criticized and understaffed, but if more of them were like the ones today, it would go really far in getting a fair number of coaches and parents to STFU. Win-win situation. |
Agree on the balls being garbage in all our games. ... The refs were fine on the 7v7 side, though. |
| This tournament is a waste of money and time. |

On the boys side—what on earth is going on with
A. SYC top teams getting eliminated!? B. TSJ parents sounding like they want everyone to duck and cover, even when cheering their players on? |
| Dog crap on a turf field! |
Oh that is awful. We did have a crow bring and proceed to tear up trash in the middle of the field during a game. Eventually a coach ran out at got it. It was hilarious. |

Here's my comment on the refs. My 17-year-old son recently got his license and made his debut in this tournament, doing U11 and U12 games. He was center ref in his first game ever, which is certainly not ideal. He explained to all the coaches that he was a new ref, but he knows the game well and also explained how he would be managing the game.
He worked six games in two days and had his share of nutty parents. The coaches weren't too bad, with the exception being one guy from PWSI who screamed and cursed at him. Nice look for your club, PWSI. A grown ass man screaming at a 17 year old kid in a U11 game. And we wonder why no one wants to be a ref. The irony of my son's situation is that no one has given refs more flack in a club and high school career than this kid. He's gotten a lot better as he's matured, but there's some poetic justice at work here lol. |
| Insane parents at Lewinsville today. Refs were great and calling appropriate fouls. |
| Good for your son for taking on center refing. My 14 year old ARs but is petrified on being a CR because has seen so many crazy parents yelling at the games he refs. These are low level "travel" games so effectively rec. And really don't matter for anything. Not sure why parents feel the need to come out on a Saturday and Sunday and act this way. I wish we could record them and send it to their employer. |

the teen refs were good this tournament, the adult refs were trash. We had one ref call the ball one way, the AR called it a different way, the player saw the way the AR's flag was and threw it in and the head ref shrugged his shoulders and said "oh well".
Then later in the game we foul the other team, they tried to play it quickly and he stopped them because he said they had to wait for the whistle (no they don't), they reset and the player is staring at the ref for 10 seconds and he starts waving his arm like "come on" - the player was waiting for the whistle that never came. Complete joke of a ref - he shouldn't of been reffing a high school aged game. |
I absolutely hate when DC plays PWSI. The parents are ALWAYS a-holes. |
