Emory and NYU were the top two final choices.
He went with NYU and didn't consider Emory to have better prestige.

Northeastern, BU??!lol. Your son is one person, not the majority. And yes none of those schools have ever been ranked higher than Emory. The gap between Emory and these schools are growing. People from the Northeast keep trying to elevate their declining privates. Like Northeastern? Give me a break.

These Emory people are really delusional still living in the 80s

The gap is closing and Emory is not regarded more prestigious, maybe slightly but negligible.

Northeastern actually beats Emory in every major metrics LOL
I suspect Emory people posting here are in their 70s 80s

Northeastern is not prestigious. You are trying too hard. It is known for the school that rigs USNews ranking by sending kids off abroad so the stats look better.

One person provided data and one person keep pulling stuff out of ass.
Bby the way doesn't Emory send kids to Oxford in the middle of nowhere? LOL

Georgia is already not so desirable, but then they send bunch of kids to Oxford GA? WTF

It costs more to go to neu overseas and kids who checked off they would NOT go overseas got admitted that way anyway. I won’t engage anymore because you’re a troll and crazy. No one thinks of this school as great. It is more good enough.

LOL what's this now?
Kids going to Oxford are all voluntary and happy, but kids going to London and etc. are forced and miserable? LOL
Emory folks are the most delusional bunch on DCUM

Emory's geographic breakdown is interesting. 18% of the undergrads are from either New York or New Jersey which is the same percentage as students from the state of Georgia. Only one student from DC.

Lots of students from Florida, California, Texas, Illinois, Maryland, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. Very few students from Southern states other than Georgia and Virginia and Texas.

Emory used to be known in Atlanta as the school for Jewish kids from the Northeast US--mainly New York & New Jersey.

Test Optional could skew the numbers, so this is from 2018 and it's average.

No need to use third party sites when both schools just released a recent CDS profile this month.
Emory- 1500, 92% Graduation rate, 96% yeild.
Northeastern- 1500, 90% Graduation rate, 97% yeild. Remember only 35% of NEU students submit test scores.

No one would choose NEU over Emory or Tufts.

Agree.
Np here.

Emory
Tufts
Northeastern (but to be honest, I don’t think I’d even let my kid apply)..

Who would choose Emory in GA over Northeastern if you are going to major in real stuff serious stuff like engineering, CS. Seriously??
Anonymous
Op, going back to work hard, play hard , Emory is kind of known for where fun dies. I’d pick Tufts on that basis.

And yet another poster who sees Emory and Tufts as peer schools.

- when we attended a tour there, the student who spoke at the front of the auditorium said that he actually had two coop internships And we’re still graduating on time. I knew that wasn’t the typical kid so when it was over, I went up and talked to him and he said that none of his friends are actually graduating on time, but he was able to get to cohorts because he came in with A ton of credits, and he also went to school year-round, taking credits.

That makes sense. We asked our tour guide about going abroad and still graduating in 4 years when also doing a co-op. She got cagey about it and said something about opportunities in the summer. If the co-op gets you ahead when you enter the job market, I don't mind it. But, it's not for everyone.

If that makes you feel better. What separates them is the reputation, and NEU doesn't have a great one.

Despite NEUs low acceptance rate, NEU students can't get into Emory.
