How much do RMSC coaches charge for private lessons? Does that include the lane fee? |
At Rockville, we pay $18 to the swim center and $24 to the coach. |
It’s a part time job. |
Some have more part time but they are all part time except the club owners. |
I’ve never seen an RMSC KSAC coach give private lessons. This may be a thing only at Rockville site |
yep, but saw Ksac coaches doing stroke and turn all over the places, also saw many club swimmers (Ncap, asa, toll etc) taking private lessons at rockville |
The private lesson isn't a thing on other teams. IMO it's questionable that they do that. Often times it appears like a pay to play game at RMSC. |
Thanks! For a 30-minute lesson? |
That’s the nature of any sport or activity. Some parents pay for private music lessons, others pay for their athlete to see a trainer. I doubt many RMSC swimmers get private lessons but I am not opposed to it. |
Many RMSC swimmers get private lessons just not from RMSC coaches. It’s highly discouraged but makes no sense when RMSC is not very individualized at any level. |
Define ‘many’ |
Most of the top RMSC swimmers got private lessons at some point. RMSC does not do a great job on stroke development so kids who show real promise at younger ages definitely get extra help. A non PVS coach who does lessons once sent out a group email so I saw all of our fellow swimmers who were getting lessons. |
I guarantee this is false. I’d possibly agree if you had written that ~15-20% of current NTGs had a lesson or two in elementary school. Otherwise you are making bizarre assumptions or exaggerating as some weird flex. Again, the percentage of kids getting private lessons are likely similar at all of the local clubs, including NCAP. |

Yes, I think it ranges 20k-70k. At our club, the boosters give all the coaches an annual bonus of 3-5k that I think is a gift, so it’s not taxed. We needed a new coach a few years ago and it was really hard to recruit because the cost of living in our town is so high. Fortunately, we have a couple of coaches who fit into that “40 and retired” demographic and can afford to live here on a coach’s salary. The other assistant coaches live in a different town and commute. |
