Bus tracking pilot

If a real time tracker won’t work why can’t tje bus driver simply post online the real time they start the route? That would at least tell us if the bus will be 30 minutes late or not.

Based on the recent past history I woukd say thry are lying and the real reason they canceled it is because they shouldn't be buying a bus tracking app when the budget falls short in so many other areas such as special education. This was mismanagement of funds and a real slap in the face to parents of special needs students- especially in an election year

Hull was lying. The app didn’t work with MCPS.

Just put a tracker on your kid.

What does that have to do with Hull spending money and lying about purchase?

Either communication between bus depots and school is lacking or they straight up lie. They try to cover their asses with canned messages when parents contact to find out what the F is going on. It is not only trying to find if a bus is delayed, but why - is it kids on bus causing delays, a bus driver not knowing what to do, a bus malfunction etc and what they are doing about the issue. Once again, comes back to communications.

You’re kidding right. This is Mcps. Put a tracker on your kid. Personally I don’t want it for safety.

That doesn't help you know if the bus is coming in the morning.

If it’s late drive your kid.

The point is to be able to track the bus, in the morning, before your kid is on it. Haven't you had any of those mornings at the bus stop when the bus just isn't there at the expected time, and no one knows whether or when it will show up?

And pre phone age kids are much less trackable.

Put an airtag in the backpack. Someone on that bus will have an iphone. Or use another type of tracking tag.

It's disgusting that this project has resources when we lack special educators and have a shortage of teachers.
