Nah, they are just totally self-centered and self-absorbed. |
| This does not bother me at all. I usually keep one email related to an appointment in my inbox at a time; I delete all others. And I'm not sure what OP is talking about regarding getting a copay early because with all the various doctors I've seen in the past year or so, I've never had to pay before actually being in the office. |
| Love when it's all 5 of us for the dentist or 3 for the orthodontist. Probably totals 30 messages. |
You might. My kids' dentist cancelled their appointments because I didn't reply to the text to confirm. We were camping out of cell service and ended our trip a day earlier than I wanted to get them to their back to back dental appointments. Like driving straight out of the woods to the dentist. As I drove back into service my phone goes crazy with all the week's worth of messages but I'm driving so I didn't check, plus there were friends text threads coming through, and everyone urgent has my satellite phone number. I was so angry. They had been on my calendar for six months. Of course I was going to be there. Then they were booked for another month or so and I couldn't get back to back and they had to miss school and I had to miss two work afternoons. Ugh I didn't realize but I'm still angry. |
Yeah, this has nothing to do with copays. |
| I think it’s because it’s automated and basically free to the medical office, and maybe helps a bit to lower their no shows. |
As someone who has never missed an appointment, yes, I find it annoying |
|
I’d be fine with an email/text reminder a week or two out and a call/text a day or two before to confirm. Anything more feels excessive and annoying. We also have to sign something that says we pay $50 for any cancellation within 48 hours.
So I don’t get why they need then go and rapid fire spam us, too. I started getting reminders in December for a March dentist appointment. |
| What annoys me more is when you check in online and complete paperwork, they ask you to upload your license and insurance card. Then, when you get to the office, they ask you for it AGAIN. I have stopped uploading pics because that just irritated me so much. I thought the point of uploading was so you didn’t have to do it when you get there?!? |
| I understand both sides. People not only no-show even with a reminder, but they become enraged when they have to pay, even though they were made aware of the policies. Everyone is over scheduled and stressed and forgetful and a lot of people need multiple reminders. |

doctor here. Be annoyed all you want, we are trying to not charge you missed appointment fees. Do you really want to go to collections over missed appt fees which most people ignore??

Meh, doctors are barely doing their jobs. They’re constantly running late and then try to make up time with my appointment. I’m really over doctors being thought highly of after going years misdiagnosed. They suck! |
Hey, can I charge you when you’re running late? I have a late appointment fee. I actually know a lawyer who won money from a doctor who was running late! We have jobs too, doctor. |

I feel that I get too many texts and emails about appointments these days
But I also feel that it's unfair to expect, if you miss an appointment, that you will immediately get another convenient appointment time. And canceling the day before is nearly the same as not showing. I don't know many working people who can take a next day/same day appointment unless they're very ill |
You should, did you have the office agree to this like you agreed to show up on time? LOL what a fool you are....how many times a year do you get fired from your doctors office??? |
