Thanks for this post...I was just about to ask almost the same question. I'm a size 14 and also tall (5'9") and have also had the problems with inexpensive stretchy jeans wearing out so quickly. I was thinking the stretch could be the problem so was looking at Levi's 501 jeans without stretch. I'm also wondering if air drying jeans after washing would help them last longer?

Also I get that cropped/ankle length jeans are in now but it's making me crazy that so many stores have just shortened all the jeans they offer, even when they're supposed to be full length jeans. For full length I need a 33" inseam and maybe 30" for ankle length. Old Navy and Gap seem to have mostly dropped inseams over 32" and the same thing at Levi's for a lot of the newer styles.

My ideal pair of jeans is high waisted and not "curvy" (those usually are too tight in the waist) with either a straight leg or boot cut. I'm OK with up to $100 for a pair if they are long lasting. I'm checking out the other recommendations, too - pls keep them coming

Walmart Levi’s.

Also a teacher and I find American Eagles jeans are good but not great —thin and I find they start to disintegrate after about a year, but they have great stretch to accommodate curves. I have had better luck with Lee jeans from Kohls—it’s worth getting a credit card there for all the 30% and 40% off sales and my Lee jeans have held up for years.

OMG. Those are old-lady pull-on pants. OP, you don't want to do this.

But what if you are an old lady? 52 here...I wouldn't wear these out to eat but for working from home as an alternative to yoga pants they are fine. I like some of the other Land's End Starfish knit pants - they are high waisted and a heavier fabric than most leggings/yoga pants so are smoothing and comfy, and decently well made. Their supima cotton tshirts are great, too - especially since they also come in tall sizes. The long sleeve crew neck tee in black or navy is what I've worn on work from home days for most of the last few years.

Are these Levi's made specifically for Walmart? They are cotton, polyester, viscose and elastane. I know a lot of the jeans on the Levi's website are made from blends, too. The price is definitely right - I've been getting Levi's from Kohl's for my boys because they are growing so fast they don't need to last forever. I got some for my 12 year old and they still had the adjustable elastic on the inside of the waist...he's such a beanpole I still always look for this.

I was looking at these 501 jeans - 100% cotton and no stretch. Just annoyed by the max 32" inseam though.

Definitely Nordstrom Rack. I'm your height and build and my go-tos are NYDJ. They have just the (small) right amount of stretch that they hold their shape and don't introduce living organisms to your body.

Universal Standard from Target.

Believe it or not, H&M has good jeans.

Yes, air dry your jeans, especially if they have stretch.

Look at JCrew - their talls are longer. Have lots of jeans on the factory website
