Young people are driving the far-right in Europe

No wonder nobody is volunteering for the military. Those people don’t come from the wealthy or welfare class and the middle class doesn’t want to be in a military that has 57 genders and has lost 2 wars under Biden.

I am not supposed to laugh at this but I did. I do wish the Dems would stop catering to an elite class. I heard a podcast yesterday where Melinda French Gates said no woman under 18 should have a baby. Sorry, that’s extreme. I would not accept that in my county. I see that as elitism and catering to a very elite class. I see little tiny symbols of pushing back. Brewery in NoVA: It’s third bathroom is a “family bathroom.” I think it’s subtle. But it’s there.

btw, as an aside, no man has ever given me a bad look when I used their bathroom. Even truck drivers. (I do it bc I am impatient and it seems like I have to pee urgently). I can handle any look that comes my way. The men laugh— and I laugh —on the way in/out. Times change. But people like change at their own pace.

that's hilarious.

Tell me what Trump did that shows he is anti big pharma and other mega corporations.

You are 1000% delusional.

He had gone into a meeting with big pharma to make them reduce prices, and instead, he gave them a tax cut and drug prices went up. He also installed a pro-pharma lobbyist to head the FDA.

Hysterical and scary how you MAGA are completely fooled by lies.

No women under 18 should have a baby.. I agree with that.

CPI is almost double the high level reported by the purposely manipulated since the 90s formula. The old honest formula used by shadow stats has cpi accurately reported at almost double. That’s in the drug prices big time. I don’t blame the government for lying about cpi because there would be mayhem and panic under Biden.

What is this “indoctrination” conservatives love to bleat about?

Ask Macron:

I guess Macron is now a crazy 'conservative' right?

Yes. No matter what side you are on .. if misinformation maintains more time before panic and misery then it’s human nature to do it.

Guess I am a libertarian who votes Dem. I just don’t believe in hard and fast rules for all humans. getting pregnant at 17 and then birthing at 18 is does not make someone undersable. Women can work 40 decades after that.

I also have two friends (who I see weekly)who are struggling to conceive. They spend loads of time at the doctors office and freezing eggs. Both earn 30-40 percent more than I do, and I earn well. The messaging is not working.

I see it as an economic problem. Let me earn money, then I can decide how and when to best have a family. Melinda Gates telling people when to procreate without dealing with national county economics is absurd.

If you’re interested in this topic with regard to how it is or may play out in the US, check out people like Charlie Kirk. He is a conservative founder of Turning Point USA and regularly speaks on college campuses

Last week he was at Cal Poly and had 1200 students show up to see him. He has had similar outcomes on campuses around the country. His take on what is happening is that it is young men who are finally waking up. They see their future with things like home ownership threatened, plus culture issues like the transing of a generation.

As a mother of three boys I concur with his observation.

Libertarian/Dem again: I am not worried about mass trans migration. Lots of young women naturally shy away from guys in their teen years. I think I wore asexual (puritan-inspired) flannel for about six or seven years.

They want to be want to be left alone. If many are left alone, they’ll resettle again in their 20s. Or like author JK Rowling says (lovingly) “some of these people will turn out simply to be gay.” It’s not a reason to freak out. It’s a bit of a trend.

What on earth do you think that a “family bathroom” symbolizes exactly? I appreciate these because they allow me to be out and about with my son who is not old enough to go to the men’s bathroom by himself but old enough that his presence in the women’s bathroom might make women uncomfortable. Ditto with my DH and our daughter. Is there some nefarious other thing you’re ascribing to family bathrooms?

Anonymous wrote:I'm European. Young people are indeed moving further to the right in western Europe. There are two issues driving it - immigration and housing. The younger generation doesn't accept the platitudes and social justice mantras of older generations. They look at their communities - whether in Sweden, France, Holland - and note that nearly all violent crime is committed by Arab and African immigrants. And it's younger people that are often the victims of it - from sexual assault to muggings to murder. Most immigrants to Europe do not accept western mores and values. And younger Europeans are tired of it. They will increasingly vote for anti-immigration parties.

Secondly, fewer and fewer Europeans can afford their own home - whether owning or renting. And this is also tied to immigration. They see how much their governments are spending to house and feed immigrants from Mali or Iraq. And that leads to resentment. The traditional left and center-left parties are often seen as out-of-touch dinosaurs that are completely removed from the day to day realities of average Europeans. The energy is increasingly with the right wing parties. Even in liberal and tolerant Holland, the far right candidate - Geert Wilders - got the most votes in the last election. And I suspect that trend will continue throughout western Europe. Young people are fed up, and they are untethered from the past. The Cold War is a long time ago. And World War II is something you read about in a history book. They will increasingly vote for the right because the left has failed to address the issues they are concerned about.

But it should be noted that the European right is nothing like the American right. Every European wants health insurance, pensions, social welfare, vacation time, affordable education, a sane climate policy etc etc. Immigration and the cost of housing is what drives the European right.

Married into a European family and can echo these points-- all accurate. The young adults are finding that they are not receiving the benefits they've grown to expect but that immigrants are receiving free housing, stipends, fancy phones etc.

I'm growing concerned that the hyperbolic language of calling right wingers "Nazis" is prepping the ground for these younger adults to accept more extreme beliefs. I had a young in law tell me that he believes in more restrictions in immigration, less aid to Ukraine etc, and if he has to be a Nazi to get these things, that's okay. I explained that he doesn't. But I was a little shaken by the conversation.

Correct. The European immigration challenges have key fundamental differences from the American immigration challenges which make it a harder problem.

Because people have wised up to neoliberal stupidity which essentially just "WhItE PpL BaD!!".

How dare Europeans desire to remain European with European identities and values. Liberal want to import and infinite amount of poverty and diversity, even though those diverse groups coming in have completely antagonistic social and religious values as the countries they're flooding into. People have had their limits with immigration and liberals' kumbaya vision for the world that is pure lunacy.
