| This is a wake up call to democrats all over the world to stop shoving tolerance too deep down our throats, to the point of it becoming ridiculous. It’s not normal that a minority group only hires people from the same group and everyone is afraid to say anything. Or when racial issues just aren’t touched even with a 10’ pole. It’s not healthy. |
I d k, man. My boys are in public school. They are decent critical thinkers. Sure, I emphasized checking their sources and the speakers— but the teachers REALLY emphasized critical thinking. They make fun of it when the teachers go too far - or when a teacher is taped reading the actual text of an American classic (and the brats take it out and post it everywhere of context bc they hate her). They are critical thinkers. That’s not indoctrination, it my experience. Yes they are being exposed much wider volumes of stuff - much more than me. (I also think I had deeper knowledge of some areas). It’s not the schools… imo |
| And the sticking-it-to the man that they all do on line?? That is definitely not indoctrination. They know exactly what they are doing. I have heard (ease dropped on) teens talk about how they play up certain ailments for candy. They all laughed bc they are all in on it. Only the adults take certain things seriously. Again, not indoctrination. They are just as rebellious as past generations. (Sorry for my editing typos) |
Critical thinking is only applied to “safe” issues in schools. What kind of critical thinking is allowed with the issue of trans or race? I think very little. |
Well that gives me hope! |
Trump lost Hispanics by 21 points in 2020. https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2021/06/30/behind-bidens-2020-victory/ You really think they favor him now? |
This feels like hand wringing to me. My kids think think some of the focal areas are OTT. So do their friends. I think the adults are talking about some issues too much. The kids are like “whatever” -i’ll work with you , go to school with you- just don’t talk about your identity 24/7. No one does that.” No one likes a friend who is a one trick poney or who is obsessed with one thing. These issues will settle down on its own. |
| Don’t authoritarianism and fascism have a long history of following mass migration events? |
Unless they are 16, then they are perfect voters. Right? The well-informed youth vote. |
Ask Macron: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/09/world/europe/france-threat-american-universities.html I guess Macron is now a crazy 'conservative' right? |

I'm European. Young people are indeed moving further to the right in western Europe. There are two issues driving it - immigration and housing. The younger generation doesn't accept the platitudes and social justice mantras of older generations. They look at their communities - whether in Sweden, France, Holland - and note that nearly all violent crime is committed by Arab and African immigrants. And it's younger people that are often the victims of it - from sexual assault to muggings to murder. Most immigrants to Europe do not accept western mores and values. And younger Europeans are tired of it. They will increasingly vote for anti-immigration parties.
Secondly, fewer and fewer Europeans can afford their own home - whether owning or renting. And this is also tied to immigration. They see how much their governments are spending to house and feed immigrants from Mali or Iraq. And that leads to resentment. The traditional left and center-left parties are often seen as out-of-touch dinosaurs that are completely removed from the day to day realities of average Europeans. The energy is increasingly with the right wing parties. Even in liberal and tolerant Holland, the far right candidate - Geert Wilders - got the most votes in the last election. And I suspect that trend will continue throughout western Europe. Young people are fed up, and they are untethered from the past. The Cold War is a long time ago. And World War II is something you read about in a history book. They will increasingly vote for the right because the left has failed to address the issues they are concerned about. But it should be noted that the European right is nothing like the American right. Every European wants health insurance, pensions, social welfare, vacation time, affordable education, a sane climate policy etc etc. Immigration and the cost of housing is what drives the European right. |
Married into a European family and can echo these points-- all accurate. The young adults are finding that they are not receiving the benefits they've grown to expect but that immigrants are receiving free housing, stipends, fancy phones etc. I'm growing concerned that the hyperbolic language of calling right wingers "Nazis" is prepping the ground for these younger adults to accept more extreme beliefs. I had a young in law tell me that he believes in more restrictions in immigration, less aid to Ukraine etc, and if he has to be a Nazi to get these things, that's okay. I explained that he doesn't. But I was a little shaken by the conversation. |
Yep. The mentally ill white liberals running Biden are sickening Hispanics https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4383903-trump-leads-biden-among-hispanic-young-voters-poll-2024-election/ |
You all believe polls now? Interesting. |
| The liberals are for the very rich and the welfare class. The working class and middle class has been skillfully claimed by Trump. This is the majority. Trumps anti-war, pro working man, low taxes on wages, pro Christian, drive to cheapen energy, anti big pharma and other mega corporations is a growth position especially among Hispanics. No wonder nobody is volunteering for the military. Those people don’t come from the wealthy or welfare class and the middle class doesn’t want to be in a military that has 57 genders and has lost 2 wars under Biden. |
