You'd think some of you forgot this is an outdoor sport over the winter break.

Ugh. Past two showcases that DD has been to have had terrible weather. Would be nice to catch a break finally.

Were you still on grass / same field as originally planned Sat morning?

No, they did move us to turf.

This a soccer forum, politics on here are McBrave or McBunion, 20 min drives or 60mins. Kids are kids let them play wherever their skillset allows.

So back to the point of the thread…Jeff cup. These fields are soaked it’s like the USA-Can game the other night. Ball just stopping dead. Lots of girls falling down. Disappointing.

It all depends on where you are at. Games on turf are fine. Obviously there isn’t enough turf for every game. It also depends on who owns the fields.

Is this mostly the younger ages? If so, that's unfortunate.

I'm sure the soccer is more "big kick down the field". Not fun to watch.

Miserable but at least we are on turf.

The Jeff Cup organizers must have been the ones who forgot that---they foolishly scheduled games on grass fields, waited until everyone showed up and was ready to play at the scheduled start time, and then rescheduled the game for 9 hours later. Did the Jeff Cup folks forget that it rains in March and that fields need to be checked ahead of time? (Or, if they don't want the hassle of waking up early to check the fields, they should have scheduled the games on turf fields.)

Been at Jeff Cup several years but this year was joke.

Weather is the uncontrollable variable here. Wonder if anything has changed? Doesn't appear like they're adding more teams but maybe they are.

Terrible terrible fields.
Worst condition we’ve ever played in.

Jeff Cup offers great competition but it’s always virtually guaranteed to have at least one horrible weekend with the weather. Virginia in March is going to get rain or snow almost every year. It’s a chance you take. I wonder how the fields they used will be by next weekend?

Pretty sure they didn’t use West Creek at all so they should be fine. I dont think they use some of the grass fields after this weekend.

U12 on grass this weekend. Worst field conditions I've seen. All the 18 yard boxes for us seemed miserable and the ball would get stuck.

I guess I'm glad we got to play instead of cancel but it was awful soccer
