Logistics, hurdles, hacks, advice ... whatever helped or complicated it for you. In hindsight what would've made your life easier?

How old are your kids?

Still confused. Do you not even have kids yet? This is (too) late to start if you are 40s and he is 50s

I am turning 40 and my husband is 52. Our 3 kids are in elementary school.
Are you worried about your age difference?

That is too much of an age difference.

Really? Says who? You?

Says anyone with half a brain.

Okay! You do you! We are perfectly happy with an amazing life and 3 beautiful and smart kids! We have plenty of money to send them to private schools, give them great vacations, pay for all the help we need, etc.
DH is also very athletic and runs marathons and ironman…

Also, we have plenty of brains!

So that old man has no time for you or the kids. Sad!

Because their kids go to private school? Do you feel like private school days are longer than public school? It can't be because they go on great vacations together - bonding on a chair lift, the golf course, or on the beach in Hawaii is quality. You must be reacting to her DH being very athletic and running marathons - from what PP has posted so far, her DH has probably made enough money and status in his career to train around a light work schedule during the workday.

Don’t take the troll bait. You don’t need to justify yourself to anyone. If they were happy people they would not be so negative.

+1

This is right, PP

Some people need to troll to feel superior. Now that is sad

- only one year difference between me and DH but have seen a tidal wave of divorces amongst our similarly matched friends. Nothing is guaranteed.

None of those things makes the age difference closer. It is still in appropriate and really gross.

No advice other than make sure he sticks with a workout routine and eats healthfully, to remain as youthful as possible as long as possible. But meh on the reality of it.

8 years isn’t much at all. You’re right behind him in terms of health issues. Hopefully you’re eating and working out the same as him.

Sounds like a typical family. You didn’t need to add the braggy stuff to convince a small minded person who can’t fathom anyone who’s different than her.

Typical families don’t have wide age difference between parents. Saying they are different from me is a compliment to me. I have better judgment. Thank you for pointing out that pp is braggy which would make her small minded.

No, but you had to be a teenage mom by marrying someone much older.

I’ll get my appropriately aged spouse to do that for me.
