BofA sold my loan to them over a decade ago. Agree with a PP that they're always trying to sell something. I asked at one point to be placed on the do-not-call list. I received numerous mailings to refi per week and daily calls for a few months. It was ridiculous.
Had portal issues for awhile but no problems in awhile. Still hate them. |
I also just had my WF mortgage transferred to Mr. Cooper. I was a client years ago when they made the name change from Nationstar. I still have my login...because when they suffered a MASSIVE data breach they had to provide me with credit monitoring.
Beyond that they took my money paid my escrows and did what they were supposed to do. I will miss the simplicity of the WF online experience as opposed to the overly engineered, gamified one Mr. Cooper uses. |
I don't think it really matters at all. Our servicer is LoanCare, right near the bottom of this customer satisfaction chart, and I have zero complaints. They pull the money when they're supposed to, their website works, and I never have any contact with them. Maybe it's different if your servicer is escrowing for taxes and insurance but we opted to do that ourselves.

we've had Mr. Cooper since march 2021 and have never had an issue. |
We've had them for 2 years and never had an issue. We had Suntrust/Truist before that and always had issues logging in and/or making changes or getting tax statements. Mr. Cooper is really easy to use especially through their app for any information you need to know. We've never had an issue with late payments or late payments of property taxes or insurance. |
I absolutely HATE MR COOPER. Everytime I call customer service (when I actually can talk to someone) they give me a new issue with my VA Exemption. I have been having issues with them for years trying to put my VA Exemption through. It's either the customer service rep has no idea what to do or I'm either waiting on their third party branch CORELOGIC to update the system.
Now with CORELOGIC being third party there is noway to contact them in anyway (email or phone) I have put in numerous requests for them to update my mortgage payments and everytime the request goes missing or they don't return any results. I will be looking for a new mortgage company once this is settled and for anyone doing research on companies in the future I urge you to completely skip Mr. Cooper! |
We're had them for over 3 years without any issue. It's for our second house which is in New Jersey. |
We just got transferred them this month. We are trying to get information about paying off the mortgage and so far can't get through to a human, no info online, and no one responding to emails. Extremely frustrating. |
Why don't more people opt out of escrowing their insurance and taxes? Just pay it yourself directly and that eliminates 99% of the ways these mortgage servicers can screw things up for you. |
There is a "Request payoff quote" button. |
Yes, but with no human interaction I was concerned about setting something in motion that I wasn't ready for. We were just ready to pay off half when they said we had to wait because our loan was being transferred. Our plan is to do half and half. Our original mortgage co allowed unlimited pay down increments with it recast each time at same interest rate for $85 each time. A friend can only pay down 2x. Do you know if you can pay down in increments and have the loan recast each time? |
Whether the loan can be recast is something that was probably in your original loan agreement. Mr. Cooper is the servicer; they do not have a right to modify terms of your original loan. Did your original loan have a guaranteed recast? |
Yes, and with the original loan we had unlimited ability to pay down and recast for a small fee each time. I know that our original loan allows us to pay down as often as we would like for a fee, but I need to pull it out and see if recasting was also a part of that and the "low" fee was as well. Thanks for the response. We still can't get any response from Mr. Cooper. |
I had them when my loan was sold to them. I had luck corresponding with them through their online chat. I found the answers quick and helpful (this was about 2 years ago). I just recently sold my property and had no issues with closing and getting any overage back.

Doesn’t matter. Could happen with any of them. Always confirm. |
