Larry Hogan and abortion

Anonymous
Larry Hogan acts like he is better than the rest of his party but he is definitely not. He is clearly fine with women dying because they could not access reproductive health care.

This. He absolutely will vote for a national abortion ban. This man is the Susan Collins of the South.

I’m fine with a ban at 16 weeks. That’s a reasonable compromise.

No, it’s not a “reasonable compromise”.

David Trone is a moderate. He’s pro-business, pro-Israel, and pro-law enforcement. He’s way far to the right of me and I will still vote for him on abortion alone. If you are a moderate who thinks Democrats have gone too far left, Trone is your guy.

Imagine being this closed minded.

It’s one thing to vote for Hogan for governor when the opponent was Ben Jealous (totally incompetent) and a solid Dem legislature.

When it’s the Senate, and it’s Hogan vs. Trone (a centrist, pro-business Democrat), you are voting to give Mitch McConnell the gavel. You are a Republican.

It doesn't matter what he says, even if he's telling the truth. He is running in a Party whose platform is committed not only to banning abortion nationally, but also to lying about it up until the minute they do.

And contraception and assisted reproductive technologies, too.

100% They all lie about it to get votes. Don't trust any republicans on any issue related to women's rights. Don't think for a minute they won't come after contraception and IVF. Look what happenend in Alabama yesterday.

Exactly.

Republicans lie to get what they want. And they want to oppress women.

That is fine for you. You can get one whenever you want, or not. You don't have the right to tell me and my doctor how to manage my body. What happens if there is an issue at 17 weeks, or 24 weeks? Are you telling me that I cannot have a procedure done to save my life or maintain viability for future pregnancies?

This is not a both-sides issue to compromise with Republican politicians on. Is Larry Hogan my gynecologist? No? He and all the other Republicans can STFO. It’s a medical issue, not a political issue. End of story.

Except that 90% of the time it is not a medical issue. It’s a personal preference issue

Either way, if it isn't your womb, it isn't your business.

Exactly like a knee replacement. If I personally prefer to address my knee problems with a knee replacement, that is a medical issue between me and my orthopedic surgeon (and my insurance company).

Knee replacements don’t kill another human being.

A fetus isn't a human being.

When you have people that want to make elective abortion legal up to the point of birth, it becomes very much an ethical and political issue.

No other country allows for abortion in last trimester without a medical reason because doing so is gruesome and chips away at our humanity.

Why is it so important to you that you can kill a viable life just for convenience? It is just as insane as people that believe an embryo is fully formed person.

And in the US, states can take away the medical reason, so women just have to suck it up and carry a dead fetus, etc. How is that a win?

There’s a sale on aluminum foil at Costco this week, if you want to stock up.

I guess you aren't paying attention

If that's your objection, then state it up front. Don't distract with the medical issue/personal preference stuff when even you don't believe that's the issue.

What are you talking about? Are you denying that 90+ % of abortions are done for convenience and not medical issues?

I don't care why. It's none of my business.

Larry Hogan did a good job. I'm judging him by that.

It’s society’s business to protect the weakest and most vulnerable among us.

Many Virginians thought Youngkin wouldn't be so harsh on abortion restrictions. So many fell for his facade.

Marylanders, please don't make that mistake. Hogan will have allegiance to the party.

Exactly. The hypococy is astounding.
