He says he won’t vote for a national abortion ban but he won’t vote to codify abortion rights either, he vetoed it in Maryland as governor. Will this issue prevent the high numbers of Democratic ticket splitting? I know a lot of people voted for Hogan to balance out the “far left” in Annapolis, but there is no “far left” in the Senate that necessitates a so-called centrist Republican from Maryland. And his likely opponent, David Trone, is as pro-business and centrist as you could want.

No sensible dem will vote for him. Moderate Republicans just toe the party line in the end.

This. I liked him as governor but the senate is a different place. Republicans all just follow trump in the end. The rare one that doesn’t has no is ostracized and leaves.

I don’t feel like I even need to worry about this because as much as I don’t like David Trone, I don’t think Marylanders will vote for Hogan in a Senate context. I guess if there’s a meaningful poll I will pay more attention. But I’m not seeing it. I think he just felt he wasn’t done running and this was as close to a good opportunity as he could find.

Low risk isn't zero risk.

I have 3 kids. I’m personally pro-choice, but abortion is not my number one issue when I go to the ballot box. Abortion is a hot button topic that both parties use to manipulate the voters.

So when you have an unwanted pregnancy in a couple of years, you will just, grin and bear it?

I use effective contraception.

You know Republicans don't like contraception either right? Though if you are a Black woman they will happy to sterilize you.

How many people thought that about Trump? Who could have imagined a b-list reality tv star winning the GOP ticket, let alone the white house. Don't be complacent.

Hogan alienated the Black vote with his treatment of Baltimore while governor. Now he's alienated women with his views on abortion.

This guy is on a roll.
