Wow! Much lower than I expected!

Keep in mind it, average SAT of kid being accepted from FCPS is going to be higher than average SAT from kid accepted from rural VA. If you're applying from NOVA, you need 1510+.

I think it is more nuanced than that.

2022 Average SATS scores:

FCPS: 1185
Virginia 1124
Langley: 1302

Pre-COVID (Test Optional) UVA Sat scores in 2020-21 were 1490/1420/1330 (compared to 1510/1470/1410 in 2023).

When deciding whether or not to submit scores, I think students should also consider the pre-COVID SAT scores since the newly reported scores don't give you enough information. The GPA has not changed nearly as significantly.

HAHAHAH! SCHEV reports that last year's UVA class had SAT scores of 1510 for 75th percentile; 1470 for median and 1410 for bottom 25th percentile of class. GPA was 4.51/4.38 and 4.20. ACT was 34, 34, 32.

Sorry, you can cite what you want but you are wrong.

Fewer than 50% even submitted scores, so that’s a little misleading.

Keep in mind that these are of those reporting. Those not reporting are lower.

Exactly.

Plus, on top of that UVA wants to see "most rigorous curriculum exhausted at high school" which usually means 12 APs (go look at reddit and college confidential and read the stats of the amazing kids who were waitlisted or didn't get in) AND extraordinary ECS.

Plus the usual pluses for URM, legacy (phasing out); athletes; first-generation; overseas brillliant kids, etc.

ACT Composite doesn't look correct. 34 at 75th, 33 Median, 32 at 25th.

Are they Ivy stats?

Washington and Lee = SAT 1510/1470/1420 and ACT 35/34/32. Is W&L Ivy?

Brown = 1550/1530/1500 and ACT 36/35/34

Yes, they are, especially if URM, first-generation and any other hook!!! These stats only apply to the boring white males in FCPS!

Do you think those don't exist elsewhere? UVA 75th is about equal to Brown 25th percentile. And Brown has URM, etc.

No, stats are lower everywhere for URM, first generation, legacy, dean's list, big donors, athletes, etc. We all know this. Especially after hte Harvard suit (I am a harvard grad). This is not a surprise to anyone

I am just saying UVA stats are not quite Ivy stats, as was claimed.

+1
Amazing that this has to be explained.

Thank you. I'm not sure what the PP thinks I got wrong. I got those scores from SCHEV. GPA has not changed significantly, but reported SAT scores have. I think there is more wiggle room to report scores, especially if your SAT score is high for your particular high school.

DP. This information is in SCHEV. It was 49.7% submitting for enrolled students for SAT.

If you would have read the prior post you would have seen the link to SCHEV data. See UVA and you'll see 49% submitted SAT.
