Wow! Much lower than I expected!

HAHAHA! And, besides, it is the URMs, minority, first-generation, athletes, musicians, legacies, peculiar gifts, etc. that goes at the 25th percentile.

Uh, no, we know why test optional exists and why colleges like it. Look at the UC system. This is all about social engineering of entering classes. Test optional allows the school to do whatever it wants in terms of social engineering. You know that. Everyone knows that. The UC system knows that (there was research done by the Regents that showed that testing DID predict academic success at the UC schools ... but, gosh, that was inconvenient so Covid came around and now they are all doing no tests. Meanwhile the giants are shifting back to requiring tests.

I don't disagree with that. I'm just saying test optional has made these compares, either currently or to a period before test-optional difficult.

here are the schev stats for last year's entering class. In case you were wondering. These are Ivy stats. GPA 4.52 at 75th percentile; 4.38 at media, 4.20 at the lowest 25th percentile. ACT 35/34/34. SAT 1510/1470/1410.

Plus, on top of that UVA wants to see "most rigorous curriculum exhausted at high school" which usually means 12 APs (go look at reddit and college confidential and read the stats of the amazing kids who were waitlisted or didn't get in) AND extraordinary ECS.

Plus the usual pluses for URM, legacy (phasing out); athletes; first-generation; overseas brillliant kids, etc.

Whatever. Who cares.

ACT Composite doesn't look correct. 34 at 75th, 33 Median, 32 at 25th.

Are they Ivy stats?

Washington and Lee = SAT 1510/1470/1420 and ACT 35/34/32. Is W&L Ivy?

Brown = 1550/1530/1500 and ACT 36/35/34

How nice to be so wealthy and have such financial reserves that you can afford a private college at $86 to 92K a year! Most of us are not that rich!

Yes, they are, especially if URM, first-generation and any other hook!!! These stats only apply to the boring white males in FCPS!

Do you think those don't exist elsewhere? UVA 75th is about equal to Brown 25th percentile. And Brown has URM, etc.

Yes, they do. Which is why private college counselors exist. I now wish I had hired one. I did for UVA grad kid who wanted to do grad work overseas. Brilliant move and now I wish I had done so 4-6 years earlier.

No, stats are lower everywhere for URM, first generation, legacy, dean's list, big donors, athletes, etc. We all know this. Especially after hte Harvard suit (I am a harvard grad). This is not a surprise to anyone

I am just saying UVA stats are not quite Ivy stats, as was claimed.

Keep in mind it, average SAT of kid being accepted from FCPS is going to be higher than average SAT from kid accepted from rural VA. If you're applying from NOVA, you need 1510+.

The assumption that the rest of the state or rural areas are full of less intelligent people is ridiculous.

That's not the assumption at all. It's because people in NOVA can pay for SAT tutors and multiple tests. It's about wealth not inherent intelligence.
