“The house is pretty much leveled,” a firefighter said on a dispatch call.
😞 |
My house in Potomac is physically closer to Sterling than McLean is to Sterling. No leaves on the trees, so sound travels better. Who knows. May husband said he heard something. |
| The house was right outside my daughter’s cul de sac… they could feel the explosion. |
| How can they hear something in Bethesda? That’s so far. I am at a hotel in Loudoun and didn’t hear anything. |
I'm not feeling concern for the house right now. Firefighters are risking, perhaps losing, their lives right now. And we have no word of the family occupants. Those poor families. |
It’s 30 miles by road but as the crow flies it’s much closer. Just look at a map. |
We didn't notice in McLean. |
The same thing happened with the explosion in Arlington a couple months ago. We lived north and west of the explosion in Arlington and couldn’t hear it but people in Alexandria could. |

YALL HEARD IT THAT FAR AWAY???
there was a gas leak oe somethign, tbh dont know what caused it (obv) but a house exploded in sterling, i live a couple blocks away and it shook the whole house https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/northern-virginia/house-explodes-in-loudoun-county-firefighter-trapped/3546296/%3famp=1 not too many articles yet, but i saw a helicopter go there a few minutes after, not sure if it was news or a hospital or something though |
| Pray for the firefighters |
You’re in a hotel that’s made for sound proofing. All depends on topography/obstacles for sound waves. Being the person that wrote that I heard it in Bethesda… I can promise you we did. Sounded like someone hit some outside our house. |
| A house exploded in sterling va. Firefighter is trapped inside |
The concern is for all impacted. The home leveled comment from firefighters indicates the severity. |
| Felt it on our southern facing wall in South Rockville. |
Two have now been rescued, unknown condition. Fire started approx 7:30. |
