Because the ED kids (whether I or II) are already committed to the school. W&M don't need to do anything to get them to commit. The RD kids will be weighing this option against other options. W&M need to make them feel wanted and want them to choose their school. |
Did your daughter apply during the extension period? My DD only applied because we received an email stating that they extended the deadline to Jan 12th. I think my kid got her application in on the 11th or 12th. |
When you apply doesn't have much to do with when they review your application, that has more to do with the context your app is reviewed in--e.g. your high school/region etc. Some areas have a lot more people applying and it's going to take more time to choose the strongest applications in that context. |

My son received one today!!!!! He was deferred elsewhere early round so this is fantastic news. It's one of his top chocies.
Really impressed they had a hand-written note on it. |
Congratulations! My son is a recent grad and we all couldn't have been happier with his experience there (and outcome now)--even with the pandemic disruption! |
|
son applied in the last hour of the last extension and I see it's in the mail.
but not getting one isn't meaningful. |
| My daughter did not get the postcard and was accepted as a Monroe Scholar during RD. She’s there now and having a wonderful experience. |
That was nice of you to share. Hope it allays some of the worry out there. |
ED 2 decisions were released last week |
| My kid hasn’t yet received a card but got an email he is a Semifinalist for the 1693 Scholarship. Can we assume it’s a definite yes? |
Yes. |
DP. It’s not. It’s one of the stupidest admissions gimmicks out there. |
Completely agree. |
I love it. It’s equivalent to the likely letter many schools send. |
It basically says you are in. “We hope to see you continue these impressive achievements at W&M” hope to see you on campus. It’s pretty clear |
