Tell me about USC?

If I recall correctly, the school does have a football team (but not sure about cheerleaders).

this is a peak "I went to college in 1992, let me give you the inside scoop" DCUM post.

I did read that in Lisa Bernbach's College Guide.

Actually, that college guide is still how I've formed most of my college opinions. That why I laugh at y'all for being so excited about BU and Tufts.

NP. Are you a relic from another era? I have no idea what you’ve said.

yea, spoiled children produce these results

Top feeders to engineering #1
https://www.collegetransitions.com/dataverse/top-feeders-engineering

Top feeders to Wall Street #10

Top feeders to Silicon Valley #8

USC is often UCLA's rejects choice. The stats bear this out. For a public university with an affordable tuition, UCLA isn't too shabby compared to USC in terms of engineering, wall street, silicon valley placements.

I think for my kid, an out of state NMF who qualifies for need based aid, USC would be cheaper.

Yes. It would be. Private schools with large endowments are always much more affordable than OOS publics for highly accomplished middle class students.

USC has a reputation of bait and switch in FA. Large FA to entice students in the beginning years. Less FA as students progress. Anecdotal. Something to look into for a family seriously considering USC.

Nope, UCLA rejects probably go with UCI, UCD, UCSD, etc.
You can probably find many Stanford rejects at USC.

USC was the only West Coast school that my VA kid applied and attending with half tuition merit.
It's little bit more than UVA. Yes, college pricing system in the US is bullshit, but my kid got lucky.

If I was a CA resident and price is the same, I would choose USC.
Only reason to choose UCLA would be if full price USC vs instate UCLA.

UCI, UCD, UCSD are not at the UCLA level. UCLA rejects flush with cash will choose USC because USC is a crosstown rival.

USC is not seen as an ivy plus rejects' choice. That would be WashU. USC is a notch below WashU; hence, twice removed from ivy pluses.

Uh.. yes, so UCLA rejects go there.

WashU maybe for pre-med?
I would definitely choose USC for CS, Engineering, Business over WashU.

The bold is for PP and his or her kids. WashU is known as a school for rich kids who were rejected by ivies. USC is not known as a school for ivy rejects.

USC is surrounded by ghettos. Google how many students came to USC and returned home in caskets.

USC SCA acceptance rate is 2-3%, probably the lowest program in the US.
