Love not shoveling sidewalks!

My husband took out the snowblower before work and did ours plus four neighbors. He thoroughly enjoyed himself!

I actually like shoveling, lol. There is something satisfying about it. But I'm from Michigan -- YMMV.

Haven’t gone yet but about to do it now!

I actually love shoveling! I'm a short middle aged lady, but shoveling is such a good workout that one gets a few times a year, at most. I even shoveled some of my neighbors' because... why not?

It’s going to be treacherous tomorrow morning because it’s so slushy right now. There will be a lot of slick spots.

I report the ones who don't. Our county has an ordinance that you have to shovel within 24 hours of the snow stopping. I shovel our elderly neighbors, but have no sympathy for the lazy neighbors with teen kids home who leave icy sidewalks for kids/dog walkers to navigate.
Don't report me, my kid just woke up, and he's going out to shovel now! I walked my dog early this morning but had an 8am work meeting and was busy from there, so I couldn't get to it myself.

BTW, I kinda like walking on the fresh unshoveled snow. Ice, not so much so.

The ordinance says 24 hours after the snow stops PP. It’s still snowing, so how would you be reported?

Some of us have to work all day and haven't been able to take a break from meeting after meeting to go shovel.

Some of us aren't lazy AF, and did it before work like my neighbor and I. They shovled at 6:30. I shoveled at 7am, laid down a little ice melt, and the rest takes care of itself.

But you have time to post on DCUM, ok super busy pp. Probably also the kind of person to not clean all the snow from their car.

If you don't shovel your sidewalks ASAP, hopefully your mail/package delivery people just throw your stuff from a safer vantage point.

How’s that high horse you’re sitting on? I’ll shovel whenever I damn well feel like it. If ever.

May favorite horror shoveling story is from when we lived in Adams Morgan - you had to shovel the alley and initially all of our neighbors did part. As the houses were divided into condos and became de facto GW grad dorms fewer and fewer people came out to shovel. One year as my husband mid block was shoveling down towards the mouth of the alley a 20 something girl and her boy friend came out and shoveled all of the snow behind her car in their back yard into the alley and then parked their car in the alley near the end of the alley - with the snow from her backyard piled behind the car between everyone else and the exit and she was very incensed when a group walked down to say she had to move her car and shovel the snow she had dumped in the alley behind her car - just unbelievably clueless

Sounds like you could use the exercise, to be honest.

I love getting my kids out there to shovel. Builds character.

I was saying that in a jokey way to the poster I quoted that said they report people who don't shovel. I should've included a smiley.
