Yes, and it’s on their website.

I was pretty much expecting a closure tomorrow, but do get a chuckle over the admin offices giving themselves a day off for a 1-2 inch snow forecast. Watch it go bust overnight and get even less.

April 22 is the first make up day. January 29 is needed due to end of the term grading and S2 planning.

They've had three days to catch up on grading.

I got the text/email from MCPS after I got it from KAH.

I just now got the text. Guess my phone is slow.

No virtual. Teachers didn’t want virtual. Code red

That's absurd. Many of the teachers at my elementary school would greatly prefer virtual over making up days. My school's core team has had plans for virtual learning for the past few weeks. Food services emailed us and directed us to send home lunches with the kids today. Yesterday school admin were sharing plans with one another anticipating virtual for Friday. It was senior leadership at central that couldn't reach a consensus this morning.

Teachers did not have any say in whether it would be virtual or not.

This.

However, DCUM was very vocal that it didn’t want virtual, virtual was a waste of time, virtual was worse than closed…

End of the quarter isn’t over yet. We all are going to scramble to finalize Q2 assignments, assessments, grades, and complete reports. But thanks for your concern ensuring student success!!!!!

That only works if students have already submitted the work. There’s one more week left in the marking period. At minimum, two more assignments per student at my school x 160 students. How do I go back in time to grade what I haven’t yet received?

That is incorrect. It’s not a virtual day because MCPS is not yet prepared for virtual learning - schools were told they had until 1/26 to prepare plans so some don’t have those together yet, not all students bring Chromebooks home daily so not everyone has a device to work on, schools that use carts to charge chromebooks have chargers to send home with kids…it’s a lot of things, but teachers did not make this decision.

I'm glad we waited until the middle of winter to have schools prepare plans. Wouldn't want to get ahead of the game.

Seriously why don't they have two sets for ES. MS and HS have theirs.

My MS school doesn’t have two sets. We only have the 1:1 plan.

Exactly. We pretty much missed an entire week of school. Right before the end of a semester. I know my high schooler is worried.
