Hardly. Beauty pageants objectify women and her choice will make it harder for other women fighter pilots and academy graduates to be taken seriously.

I take her seriously. Don't be so judgmental.

How is she going to manage Miss America duties and being an Air Force pilot?

Good question. She’s currently getting her masters degree so I’m guessing she won’t even start pilot training for 3 years.

Sounds like she's on her way to an entertainment career.

No, she seems like a great kid. Very impressive. I’m confused about her apparent interest in health policy and flying though. I don’t see a logical transition from pilot to cancer/health policy. Seems like the flying is a hobby but Air Force pilot is a full time job, not something you do on the side. Maybe she’ll go reserves asap.

What does her being a great kid have to do with it? Sounds like a waste of taxpayer money training someone who has no intention of being a fighter pilot.

That was in response to the entertainment comment. She’s obviously smart and a hard worker.

She got slot but since she wants to do cancer research and health policy, she probably won’t fly long. But we lose plenty of male pilots at 28-30 too when they leave for the airlines.

She didn’t take a year off. She graduated. She’s getting a masters degree right now.
i

She must carry out her Miss America duties for a year. I thought everyone knew that.

It's a full-time paid job. She tours and works for the Miss American organization.

And why can't she be both a pilot and a public health expert?

Nope, it's the most fraudulent "scholarship"
program.

Kennedy School is political elite garbage, not a real school.

Being in the Air Force is far more impressive.

She’s an Air Force Academy grad, has a private pilot’s license, in fighter pilot training, founded a non-profit for cancer advocacy, and attends the Kennedy School at Harvard.

She can’t be in fighter training and at Cambridge. She may have been selected for it but she just graduated from the academy. As impressive as she is, she can’t do pilot training remotely. Doubt Kennedy is online and pilot training is intense. You don’t get a masters degree at night while in pilot training.

Non profits are completely unimpressive now. Everyone has one. Tell me how many people it’s actually served and what it’s done for them. Most have done nothing.

Leadership are all volunteers.

It's her father's non-profit, not hers. But she probably volunteered at their fundraiser events.

Some of you are really worked up about this. Her commitment will probably be the same. She’ll get her masters, go to pilot training, do 10 years, then go into government and do healthcare policy. She’s a Truman Scholar and got a couple NASA scholarships too. She’s not grifter. She’s just really smart, busy and courageous. I don’t have the courage to fly a plane or perform on stage for the world. Most of you don’t either.

Academy grads often defer their service to play on professional sports teams, how is this any different?
