When they hold their own those are fundraisers for the principal.

If it benefits both the students and the home school, I'm okay with that! I didn't realize that it will now be $300 per semester- that might make me reconsider.

If you can afford a vacation you can afford $300.

Now $350

So if another high school has a summer course my kid would like to take, can they register at that high school, and not their own?

Usually depends if there is space available.

So summer school enrichment favors the wealthy now?

There are four tuition tiers, ranging from $40-$350.

Families do your kid a favor and let them be a kid for another few summers. Courses will fall into place within the four years of HS. Let them take the courses they want while they are still in HS to test the various subjects.

And they *really* don’t want to sit through an entire year of it.

My kid said A was almost bearable crammed into three weeks in the summer, but I can’t imagine how excruciating it would be to drag the full requirement out over two full semesters.

It would probably be different during the school year when you have more time for discussion/reflection/projects.

Highlights:

The 2024 proposed sites for regional high schools are:
• Montgomery Blair
• Richard Montgomery
• Seneca Valley

Sessions are tentatively scheduled:
• Session 1: June 24–July 12, 2024
• Session 2: July 16–August 2, 2024

Proposed full tuition is $350, but there are reduced options. This is for central and regional programs. Individual HS summer programs may have different tuition.

Honors Health B Prioritization and Availability
Students in the class of 2025 will have a two-week priority registration window for the Health B course.
Students who register for the Health B course during registration window are guaranteed a spot.
Health B will be:
● available both in person at regional high school sites and virtually through the CHSSP.
● offered free of charge to students in the class of 2025, as this graduation requirement has not
been available during any of the free summer programs since 2020.
● offered in both session 1 and 2.

This info is so helpful. Thank you for posting.

Mine said health ed was horrible and it makes sense to do it over the summer. They will do second semester this summer to free up an elective.

I think that going back to charging all based on income is going to make it much easier to be placed into classes this year. There are a lot of people who will just choose not to do it.

My oldest is a freshman planning to take Health A this summer. When are they able to register and how do we get that info? We had assumed it would be offered virtually, should we now plan for that not being an option? Lastly, how do we apply for reduced cost? I’m a teacher (single mom) so summer income is a factor for us.
Thanks to anyone who can answer!
