It got annihilated by Ian. Check and make sure it’s fully functional. It wasn’t last I checked.

+1

Cheeca is awesome. Also great resorts up in Hollywood, with better beach.
The recent Checca reviews are pretty bad for the price. We considered the keys for spring break but I couldn’t find a hotel I was excited about.

Same. I haven’t seen any property down there (Keys) that looks anything close to this “awesome” experience the PP is referencing. Either they don’t get out much or their lodging standards are pretty low.

Maybe check out casa marina. It was just redone. Their rooms are only $1000 a night.

Pocket change, can easily find that kind of money in the couch cushions, eh?

Hawks Cay is great, depending on what you want (we loved having a condo-style set up with two bedrooms and a kitchen)

If you mean FL beach, I think it's really touristy. Reminds me of Myrtle Beach, although probably a little nicer. There is a nice sidewalk along the beach for running/walking. Other than that, I'd choose somewhere else.

Our favorite family trip to a Florida destination was Pink Shell in Ft. Meyers beach. Laid back and fun!

DP checking this out but it seems rather tired. and no food options except on property?

It's not walkable, if that's what you mean, and it is one of the downsides to this Property. The on-property restaurants are meh. There are plenty of places to eat off the Property, but it's valet only which starts to get annoying. Agree that it's a good spot for a quick weekend getaway, but I wouldn't want to stay a week. Although the 2BR/2BA units are nice.

We stopped at the Publix on the way in for breakfast/snacks, ate lunch at the pool, and then left the Property for dinner. Were there 2 days/3 nights.

That area is still pretty bleak-looking from the recent hurricane. I wouldn't go there for at least 2 years. Are any hotels even open down there right now?

Same! We have family in Naples and when we wanted to get our own place and visit we stayed here and the kids loved the water slides. We took a day trip to sanibel.

Yes, Ian was in September 2022, and it is now January 2024! Crazy Florida-hater, I was there last week. I’m a Marriott Titanium member and it WAS FABULOUS.

Yes, dummy, it is fully functional. You obviously don’t travel much or read the news because Ian happened in Sept 2022. It’s January 2024!

There is still a lot of damage in SWFL, so it's a reasonably question to anyone who knows the area. Thx tho.

Just to be clear, Marco Island is pretty much back since the hurricane two years ago, but the Sanibel area is not - correct?
