There will only be justice here if the Washington Post and the public keep the heat on the council and the BOE.
They would all love nothing more than to wait this out, and let it go quiet, and come up with a whisper of a "new action plan". And they will fire Biedleman, but just him (with large but silent severence), and hope this sordid tale all goes away. In a year or two maybe even McKnight will claim a victory for handling this situation, as if she had no involvement in it, in the first place. Another day of Animal Farm at MCPS. |
This is disgraceful. Do our elected leaders really have no shame? |
in my opinion, this is a terrible management decision. the captain should go down with the ship. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_captain_goes_down_with_the_ship
that's what true leadership is. |
What????!!!!! I just knew when they put this “task force” this together it would be with corrupt people. Why would they think it would be ok to have these people serve on this? McKnight needs to go. She needs to go ASAP. She clearly is unable to lead. As a staff member, this is infuriating. We never will be able to trust them and stay safe as long as they all are still protecting themselves. |
Except that group is not about "how to deal with Beidleman." |
I think PP was using “Biedelman” as shorthand for “gross incompetence among MCPS administrators and leadership in dealing with claims of sexual harassment and abusive workplace practices” or something similar |
MCPS's past M.O. has been to promote problematic employees so that they can go somewhere else outside the system. Here, it will be difficult to do that. |
This was apparent when the news first broke.this does not happen under effective leadership and ot certainly doesn't get dismissed as a distraction as McKnight did. It's on our elected officials to right this ship. Will they do it? |
As a teacher, there are many principals just as abusive and incompetent as Beidleman running around. The central office employees you're supposed to report misconduct to DO. NOT. CARE. There is zero accountability. The union is too weak to be of any help. I've experienced principals like this in Howard and Prince George's County schools as well as MCPS. It's a systemic issue with the way schools are structured. Principals simply have too much power, with no way to stop abuse once it starts. This is a major contribution to the teacher shortage that I don't see the news talking about. |
Things are a mess in MCPS right now. McKnight told principals at a meeting earlier this week that there's nothing she could do to alleviate the poor morale among staff right now. She blamed the scandal and events going on in the world as reasons why her school staff are miserable. There continues to be no self-reflection.
Schools are drowning right now with added responsibilities due to low staffing but central office "instructional specialist" positions seem to be multiplying like Gremlins who got wet after midnight. |
If you know names and details, please contact the Post reporters. |
Do any principals at these meetings push back? The principals need to ask her some tough questions. My beef with many principals in MCPS is that they’re sheep. They may know they have predators on their staff but if central folk say they are cleared to come back, the principals don’t say boo. |
Monifa needs to resign or she should be fired. Of course if she gets fired it won't be good for the DEI quota. I don't expect anyone to be held accountable. |
You need to set your standards lower. Biedleman himself hasn't even been fired. McKnight will not be fired anytime soon. |
No one really noticed Crouse when she was appointed. I almost wonder if they did that just to see if people were still paying attention. |
