Exactly! One of the most dangerous medications out there is actually Tylenol. No one is coming on here daily saying "don't take Tylenol." |
They just said "Well, you don't want to be on them forever." but wouldn't give more of an explanation when I pressed. |
Ileus is most definitely a thing. And it's a known side effect of GLP-1 agonists. |
OP just ask them but they probably mean they’re going to help you find the lowest dose you can be on and maintain your healthy weight, which might or might not be 0mg. |
OP here. Well, I am prediabetic (or was before the weight loss). And there is no evidence it's not safe if you aren't diabetic. Obesity, like diabetes, is a chronic disease, so yes, staying on it long term is important. I run or walk daily several miles (always have - I've done dozens of marathons, triathlons over the years) and lift weights heavy 3 times a week. But thanks for the tips! Super helpful and not at all obvious. |
This is helpful - thank you. I'll talk to them once I reach goal and see if I can just reduce. I lost most of my weight on the lower doses -- even a little bit of reduction of "food noise" in my head has done wonders to eliminate snacking. |
Can you buy from a Medspa without a prescription? |
When one simple drug claims to improve multiple things just like that, you should be suspicious. Even penicillin which was hailed as a « miracle drug » caused unintended outcomes due to over and indiscriminate usage. There are a long list of drugs that were originally thought to be terrific solutions that later turned out to not be or to be harmful. People can and should do what they like, but they should be cautious and aware before putting things in their bodies. Science is great but it is always evolving. |
It is, but we KNOW that obesity is really dangerous! It has multiple risks-heart disease, stroke, mobility issues, to name a few. You have to weigh the risks. |
Right. I personally knew a girl in college who died after making Tylenol her go to drug to treat hangover headaches. There was nothing they could do to save her. |
When a hormone like GLP-1 acts on multiple systems, that’s normal. Been through menopause? Drop in estrogen affects mood, anxiety, weight, endocrine system, cardiac system and on and on. Either you done understand what GLP-1 is. Or you don’t understand human anatomy and physiology. Either way, you can sit down. But first, answer this question. Am I healthier at 302 pounds with 55% body fat, pain in all weight bearing joints, hypertension, high cholesterol and an A1c of 6.5. Or at 242 pounds, 45% body fat, muscle mass up, pain free, normal to low BP, high normal cholesterol and an A1c of 5.1 and a 20% lower risk of cardiovascular syndrome and off my BP med, a muscle relaxant, NSAIDS and Zoloft? (With another 60 pounds to go). I thought about it. I decided that that coming off 4 medications, having healthy blood work, not being pre diabetic or at risk for stroke, having my heart attack risk lowered, and being more physically active is better for me. Even if GLP-1s have risks, they are lower than my health risks 60 weeks ago. And don’t start with eat less/ move more. I tried. For a decade. My diet on Wegovy is so much better. And I can now lift weight, do sit ups, hold a plank for more than a minute, bye and in general move more and better. So, what’s the problem? |
Yeah, i said that. But people tend to hear the good and ignore the risks. Especially when they can get the initial outcome they desire. |
Yes they typically have generic compounded semaglutide. It’s varying levels of sketchy but most likely safe. |
So you're aware of the risks, but the rest of us - who are working with doctors, and have been saying in this thread, "you have to weigh the risks" - don't understand the risks. And therefore it's your job to post a bunch of threads warning us? I'll be the first to say that people are bad at risk, generally. And each of us has some pet worry that's common behavior but we think is super risky - mine is lap babies on planes. But you do not see me on every travel thread warning people about lap babies. The information is out there for people, they have considered it, and they have made a different decision than I would. |
Wow you are super defensive. If you felt so good a secure about your decision you wouldn't be reacting this way. I wish all of you health and wellness. |
