You don't have to go off. People have been on Ozempic, which like Wegovy is semaglutide, for nearly 20 years safely.
For diabetes. We don’t know what the impact is on otherwise healthy people. One should always be cautious of “miracle drugs”.
No need to put quotation marks around miracle drugs. They are. Thank god we finally have them.
When one simple drug claims to improve multiple things just like that, you should be suspicious. Even penicillin which was hailed as a « miracle drug » caused unintended outcomes due to over and indiscriminate usage. There are a long list of drugs that were originally thought to be terrific solutions that later turned out to not be or to be harmful. People can and should do what they like, but they should be cautious and aware before putting things in their bodies. Science is great but it is always evolving.
When a hormone like GLP-1 acts on multiple systems, that’s normal. Been through menopause? Drop in estrogen affects mood, anxiety, weight, endocrine system, cardiac system and on and on. Either you done understand what GLP-1 is. Or you don’t understand human anatomy and physiology. Either way, you can sit down. But first, answer this question. Am I healthier at 302 pounds with 55% body fat, pain in all weight bearing joints, hypertension, high cholesterol and an A1c of 6.5. Or at 242 pounds, 45% body fat, muscle mass up, pain free, normal to low BP, high normal cholesterol and an A1c of 5.1 and a 20% lower risk of cardiovascular syndrome and off my BP med, a muscle relaxant, NSAIDS and Zoloft? (With another 60 pounds to go). I thought about it. I decided that that coming off 4 medications, having healthy blood work, not being pre diabetic or at risk for stroke, having my heart attack risk lowered, and being more physically active is better for me. Even if GLP-1s have risks, they are lower than my health risks 60 weeks ago. And don’t start with eat less/ move more. I tried. For a decade. My diet on Wegovy is so much better. And I can now lift weight, do sit ups, hold a plank for more than a minute, bye and in general move more and better. So, what’s the problem?
