Not every school does Mascot time?

Our MS has daily advisory for 25 minutes. About once a week is an SEL lesson and the other days are study halls. Teachers are proctoring a study hall or delivering an advisory lesson 2-3x a week in addition to meeting with kids during study hall 2x a week.

These are the sessions where the school sneaks in CRT and other leftist ideology. They do this so it doesn't show up in the curriculum anywhere. Parents be warned.

I wouldn’t call it CRT, but def some questionable content in terms of how it aligns with information parents can access and how uniform it is across schools. As a teacher, I don’t get access to the lesson until the day before at the earliest. I’m often reading the slides for the first time in front of students

Unfortunately many of your fellow teachers are teaching CRT. Depending on how familiar you are with it, you might even be teaching some CRT concepts without even knowing it. We saw our kid's middle school teaching it full-bore when school was virtual in 2020-21. Systemic racism, white privilege, anti-racism, decentering whiteness, etc. all stem from CRT. The MCPS equity unit has focused on these for quite a while. CRT scholar Ibram Kendi is the primary way many schools teach CRT Kendi goes so far as to say that racial discrimination against whites (and probably Asians) is a necessary component of anti-racism. He's a disgusting racist.

I'm the PP and I'm a liberal Democrat. I'm sick of leftists poisoning our kids' minds with their ideological garbage.

What's a "liberal" vs a "leftist"?

Liberals believe is truth, science, evidence, and reality. Leftists are like religious fundamentalists in that they don't let any of the aforementioned qualities alter their beliefs. Most leftists are Marxists while liberals still believe in capitalism even if we see issues with it and want some reforms. Most leftists are critical theorists while liberals tend to be more rational and want less extreme solutions. President Obama is liberal. Kristin Mink is a leftist.

Advisory would be fine if it was an actual class that didn’t lower the class time for all other classes. Also if the class timing was uniformly implemented across the various levels. Additionally, it very different at different schools. Some schools use it as a support/study hall period. Some use it for elective type classes, some use of for mindfulness breaks, some use of for SEL.

Part of the problem with MCPS is where there should be standardized practice there is autonomy, and where there should be autonomy there is standardized practice.

When it is a study hall most kids do nothing in my advisories. I try to keep talking and socializing to a minimum to encourage kids to focus on homework and to avoid bothering kids who actually are trying to get work done.

What questionable content are you willing to share? A lot of people are clueless about what's being taught in MCPS.
