I am looking forward to seeing how many people show up at the holiday party in this. Then I will know how many other people at the office secretly read dcum

🤣🤣🤣🤣
I can’t believe anyone would think it’s appropriate dress for someone over age 12

It looks like something a movie housewife would wear to her husbands fancy work party and then get roasted by the “fancy working ladies”.

Not sure why it gets the hate, but this forum skews really frump, so maybe that’s why.

frumpy partner, heal thyself

I still think it was a joke (that VV dress)

NP here. I love that dress, but would not take the plunge and wear it to a work event. Stay a bit "unforgettable", as other PP stated. I do think that some posters post great options, while others deliberately post laughable options, on the whole, for this type of thread.

I might wear it to my own work event, but not to my spouse's party in another city where I don't know anyone or what the overall style/vibe is going to be. I feel like that dress - which I sort of like and sort of hate; it's so bad and campy it's good? - is ONLY for an occasion where you are in control, or feel VERY confident about your social position in the group.

Did she ever say it was for her spouse's work? I missed that part.

Yes, in the original post. (ADHD brain here - sometimes I focus HARD on the wrong things...)

Genuine question, what kind of message does one aim to send with these standout dresses?

I go to my and DH’s parties in corporate sheath dresses and maybe add some fun jewelry or accessory. The whole point is to show up, catch up with people, go home. I don’t want to be memorably for my outfit, but rather for connecting with people in a more relaxed way than when we are in the office.

What you think about this dress?

You can't go wrong with a simple black sheath dressed up with fun jewelry, shoes, and a cute handbag.

I need to find an outfit/dress for a Christmas party at my spouse law firm.
Party will be in Seattle, so my understanding it will be less fancy than on the East Coast?
I am 5’5, 115 pounds, 43 y.o. Pretty fit, but don’t have great arms or legs. So no mini probably.

go to the “is it okay to wear plaid now” and buy the J Crew dress OP linked.
