Christmas corporate party outfit

Anonymous
I’m in Seattle and have been to many firm Christmas parties with my DH, all hosted at local hotels in ballrooms. Unless this is a dinner with a smaller crew (where id dress more business casual), dress like you are going to Canlis. You’ll see most people in forgettable solid color dresses.

seattle is super casual but if you like fashion there are lots of people who appreciate it here. Often these silly parties are the only excuse Seattleites have to wear dresses out, so have fun with it. Everyone else won’t notice. Just don’t do super short or show lots of cleavage.

Recommend a forgettable, conservative knee length black velvet dress. I have a long sleeve one from Ralph Lauren that fits the bill.

God OP you’re 43 and in good shape; not 80. You’re not “too old” for anything.

- big law partner older than you who attends 5+ work events a year along these lines

Please not that Vineyard Vines dress.

I will ask for photos, that’s great idea.
I am thinking LBD will do just fine.

Yeah look at the photos and dress accordingly. I'm an LBD will be fine!

I am looking forward to seeing how many people show up at the holiday party in this. Then I will know how many other people at the office secretly read dcum

🤣🤣🤣🤣
I can’t believe anyone would think it’s appropriate dress for someone over age 12

Who posted that vineyard vines? And which Charleston are you from originally? (I can picture Symone Biles in that looking really cute)

I still think it was a joke (that VV dress)

Huh I’m 45, big law partner and I would never actually buy something from VV because that’s the domain of country club housewives, but the VV dress is cute and I would look fantastic in it and would for sure get a lot of compliments if I wore it to a work event.

Not sure why it gets the hate, but this forum skews really frump, so maybe that’s why.

I dk what is cute about the dress? Huge bow on front, print or taffeta?
This dress is a culmination of frumpy itself.

NP here. I love that dress, but would not take the plunge and wear it to a work event. Stay a bit "unforgettable", as other PP stated. I do think that some posters post great options, while others deliberately post laughable options, on the whole, for this type of thread.

The one from the other post, obviously.
