I know it’s early, but November will go fast.
I need to find an outfit/dress for a Christmas party at my spouse law firm. Party will be in Seattle, so my understanding it will be less fancy than on the East Coast? I am 5’5, 115 pounds, 43 y.o. Pretty fit, but don’t have great arms or legs. So no mini probably. |
| Halsbrook |
| Sweater dress and tall boots |
| I posted a link to this on another thread, but I love this dress for that: https://www.vineyardvines.com/product/womens-dresses/taffeta-tie-waist-shirtdress/2Q011328.html?color=B860 |

wear one or the other, or both. have fun! |
| Omg OP don’t you dare wear sequins unless you want to be the laughing stock. I think you’re a little tall for the VV dress but the idea is good. Otherwise I’d look at halsbrook (their personal shoppers are good), Sara campbell or j McLaughlin. I always overthink things like this and then go and most people are in fairly simple sheath dresses, blazers, etc. What is the venue and time? |
The event will be in a historic hotel and in the evening. I don’t know the exact time yet. Their firm is pretty conservative but at the same time everyone is very relaxed. People wear hoodies and caps to the office. But I am not sure how dressy they get for holidays. |
I think I am too old for this… but cute! |
In that case go with a regular black suit with a velvet jacket or a red/green/gold sweater under the blazer. Don't really need to think about it that much. |

Would you prefer to be more formal or casual?
For a more casual look what about a silk top, dark jeans, heels or boots, and a necklace?

I would want to know a couple of things:
- How formal people tend to get at this event - What style vibe people go with (more conservative, more artistic, designer, etc) Can you try to look at photos from previous years - or ask your husband to ask his female coworkers what they wear to this? |
|
My impression of the style -very very conservative, very boring. No designer in sight.
I will ask for photos, that’s great idea. I am thinking LBD will do just fine. |
That is horrific on every level. |
