| I'd report it. |
| I absolutely would report them. It’s going to be a maintenance issue for both the shed and your fence. I’m assuming they didn’t dig a footer? If you want to build anything on your side using the 5’ setback you could have a problem with their shed when you do footers. You’ll also be more apt to get water runoff into your yard feom their shed roof. I’d they did do a footer then I’d assume they compromised the footings for your fence post. I’d complain properly even if to get a paper trail for when your fence collapses there. |
| Just call it in. You’re not obligated yo help them violate code. They knew the rules when they put it up. |
I just worry that that will make him do other things that can’t be reported (like more future gigantic trees). |
| That was sneaky what he did I would call that in and report it. He should move it five feet away from the fence he's not exempt from the law. |
Move on. It’s on their property, over a fence, and not impacting you. You remind me of my neighbor who knocked on my door when i was 7 months pregnant with my third child at 7 am (middle of morning rush) to tell me with her unleashed dog (ordinance violation!) that my trash cans being at the end of the driveway violated some ordinance. I have not looked her in the eye since. |
| Report it and then just let this go. Chances are nothing will happen. A neighbor to my parents in MoCo built a covered porch to the lot line in a zone where there should have been a 7’ set back. No permit obviously. As because on lot line the gutter actually projected over it. My parents spoke to the County, who asked address etc and they agreed it wasn’t in compliance and then zero things happened. |
| Report it to the county and they might do a drive by. I know someone who has to move their shed a few inches. I don't know if they were reported or the county just happened to be driving by and noticed (this was in moco). |
we put our shed as close to our fence (that we paid for) so we would not lose usable yard space. I didn't ask my neighbors. |
| The complaint about the tree was ridiculous but I’d report the shed. Zoning ordinances exist for a reason. |
No one needs to ask their neighbor unless you’re not complying with setbacks. If you want to put it closer than the required setback, I’d recommend clearing it with the neighbor to ensure they won’t report you. |
OP again, the shed is 11” tall not 8”. |
|
LOL. Go ahead and report it. Absolutely nothing will happen.
You sound like our grumpy puss neighbor who seriously needs a hobby. |
You actually sound a little precious. |
| I'd report for all the reasons others have said so far. It's probably on skids anyway and not a huge deal to drag four more feet away from the fence. A PITA, sure, but not great hardship. They'll be stacking crap behind it etc.. These codes are there for a reason. Our city/town requires a full 10' from property lines. They can count themselves lucky it's only 5'. |
