| My DS told me that the boys event has been canceled (according to his coach). But my DD’s coach seems to think that the girls event is still on. Agreed that the organizer is not great with communication and their website is not easy to work with. Looks like there are some rosters posted for girls |

Have word from 3 separate coaches (boys), in 2 different counties, that the boys event is not happening, at least in the traditional early December slot.
Before all the keyboard warriors jump in, No word and didn’t ask about the girls. |

Just got confirmation from our school's coach that it is canceled. I had been hearing this for the past couple of weeks, so the speculation on this Board starting a few days ago was indeed true, and not a "shitty rumor." I assume you are the same person who responded with snark to everyone who passed along their intel that the event was not happening. what was your angle to keep alive the fake news as long as possible? |

I hope so. It’s always well run and great opportunity to play right before the season. Plus, IIRC I think they went to two refs last year per game, which is a lot better than Fall Brawl has yesterday with only one. |

The event is not cancelled. Your team might have pulled out but there are 18 total teams registered and it is 100% going to take place this weekend.
Please enlighten us and tell us what school your are from that pulled out. |

Here is proof that the Turkey shootout is still on. Stay with me now, it’s very simple. Go to https://secure.sportability.com/spx/Leagues/League.asp?LgID=49510 Click “register now”, then click open player registration (leave email and password blank), then click “continue” Enter in a grade level such as “11” this represents a junior in high school. Then click “continue” Get to the next page then click “continue” Here is the key, on the next page, use the drop down button that says “select a team”. Now this is where you see all the teams entered. Mic drop |

The old saying "all good things must come to an end". This would had marked the 23rd straight BOYS Oakton Turkey Shootout. Pretty disappointing that no one from the Oakton Community could not had stepped up to make this happen. ESSPECIALLY since the girls event is going to take place. Shame on the OAKTON GIRLS PROGRAM/BOOSTERS for not picking up and supporting the boys side this year. I am sure over the last 23 years the boys lacrosse program supported the girls in many different ways.
As the last poster said, this shows how shallow girls lacrosse really is sometimes. When they want/need something they sure make it known. |
