If you gave up coffee/caffeine, what do you drink first thing in the morning?

Warm water

Rooibos tea, like in the Mma Ramatswe books ("bush tea"). It's what I drank when I was pregnant and wanted to avoid caffeine.

But it's not as good as coffee, no.

Brewed cacao. I absolutely love it. Never going back to coffee.

OP here. Yes, I wasn't saying that the podcast said caffeine was bad for you. What I got from their talk was a few things, but mainly 1) it is definitely classified as a drug because it alters mental state and 2) it's an interesting experiment to see what life is like without it.

Two days later, you finally give the summary. Slow clap.

What is wrong with you people? OP wasn’t asking for a discussion of their motivations, they were asking for what beverages people replaced coffee with when they stopped drinking caffeine for whatever reason.

Hope you got some useful suggestions and find your experiment interesting, OP!

Why can’t you just drink decaf coffee?

I drink warm water with lemon when I give up coffee. (Every few years I just wake up one day and don’t want coffee. I have turned that into a longer term break from coffee a couple of times. When I wasnt drinking it I really noticed how much it drives my morning routine and the family routine. It felt good to be more in control of my mornings. But eventually I started drinking g coffee again.)

decaf coffee literally taste the exact same just no caffeine (idk maybe just me)

also, i haven't heard the podcast but if its about not drinking because of the caffeine then just drink decaf

i stopped drinking caffeinated coffee about three weeks ago. i'll be honest, first two weeks were brutual. i was tired by 11am, and had to take a nap during my lunch break. i had zero energy for the gym.

to replace the coffee as my morning drink, i started mixing up these drinks, depending on the day:
- drinking decaf
- making a protein smoothie
- chai lattes

What was it like after the first 2 weeks?
Also, chai latte still has a fair amount of stimulant right?
