Joe Biden is the best president of my lifetime

I’m older than OP, and I disagree that he’s the best in my lifetime. He has, however, overcome a whole lot of disaster without crippling the country. All the gains can’t be contributed to him.

I’m center-left. Born in 1988. Of all the presidents in my lifetime, Biden, whom I voted for but not in the primary, has come closest to making my own (middle class) life meaningfully better. He has taken reasonable and pragmatic action on student loans. He is staying strong on Ukraine without doing anything stupid. He’s rescheduled marijuana. His NLRB has been fantastic. He’s good on infrastructure and not terrible on the environment. He’s softened the blow of a looming recession. He’s old, but a sane and rational adult. He’s not perfect, but he has earned the vote of this former Bernie-or-Buster.

Completely agree.

I think that history will be particularly kind to Biden. He's overseeing a great economy, managed the transition from COVID to post-COVID very well, passed a great infrastructure bill, the IRA will likely prove to be a fantastic investment, and his reintroduction of industrial policy is leading to reshoring well-paying jobs. He's repaired our image abroad, strengthened old alliances, and has helped Ukraine stave off Russia and exposed them as a paper tiger with minimal investment and zero US casualties.

Fifty years from now, people will look at is low approval ratings and wonder what the hell most people were thinking. Republicans are pitching a hissy-fit for no reason other than the (D) next to his name, and people are wringing his hands because he's old, but whatever. Dude's killing it.

Years from now people will be saying “Remember when there was a Republican Party? Then Trump destroyed it. What a bunch of lunatics.”

Who would you say is, then?

Clinton and Reagan in my lifetime. I think history will bear that out.

Reagan ended up sowing the seeds that the GOP have reaped the last several years. In hindsight, the administration was somewhat corrupt, trickle-down/voo-doo economics are in fact BS and the middle class and domestic manufacturing decline also started under Reagan. Add to it the "welfare queen" BS that had middle American whites further marginalize urban African-Americans based on a lie, opened the door for the white nationalism we see today.

1. do more to reduce the chaos around border and immigration they opened up an app that has already reduced the chaos at the border
2. do more to solve our lousy healthcare system can't do this without either 60 dem senators or some help from "moderate" GOP
3. do more to protect the federal workforce and civilian agencies I would be curious what a president can do about this, but I agree with you

Beyond that, I think he's doing a great job.

I thought for a moment I must have started this thread myself. Except I was born in 1973. And I completely agree.

Similar birth year and I mostly agree. To have a president who is so steady in an incredibly rocky time (Covid, war, economic uncertainty) and make progress in an important areas. There is no way a Republican president could have navigated this inflationary period with any kind of steady hand and decent solution. Clinton was a great president, too. Too bad he was such a womanizer…

I can’t believe history hasn’t held Reagan more accountable for the failed trickle down strategy that kicked our country off on a terrible debt cycle. His tax cuts for the rich continue to do awful things for the middle class.

I'll take this one....

"If You hear nothing else I say tonight, hear this: Anyone who’s responsible for not taking control, in fact… saying I take no responsibility initially, anyone who’s responsible for that many deaths should not remain as president of the United States of America,” - Oct 22, 2020 - Joe Biden commenting on Covid killing a quarter of a million people

"Biden marks one million U.S. COVID deaths after losing political battles" - May 12, 2022, Reuters

“We didn’t see Delta coming. I think most scientists did not — upon whose advice and direction we have relied — didn’t see Delta coming,” Harris told the Los Angeles Times in a year-end interview. “We didn’t see Omicron coming. And that’s the nature of what this, this awful virus has been, which as it turns out, has mutations and variants.” - Dec 18, 2021. OK Joe. Whatever.

Yes, Joe is on top of things.

So it's Joe's fault that idiot cult members chose not to take a free vaccine?

Almost all of my friends switched jobs for more $$ during that time, some like me did twice. It was really a historic opportunity to get your income up, the last time it was like that was the .com bubble when I was just starting out (good memories). My salary is up 90% since 2021! All my friends have done really well, job hopping was key to 30%+ raises for all of them.

My expenses have barely increased. Mortgage is locked at a low rate, house price shot up after covid. My stocks have been great, Net worth is way up. I’m a big Ukraine supporter, so very pleased with Biden’s support there. My best friend works in the semi conductor industry, the CHIPS act has been huge for him. He consults says he’s never been so busy even after he increased his rates. My social circle is just killing it in their careers, good times under Biden. Even my factory worker fav cousin went from$25/hr to $38/hr, which for him was life changing. Good times, and Biden’s economic has definitely worked for us!

I basically could have written this. Congratulations to you and your circle of friends!

and the rich get richer.

So a factory working increasing their hourly pay is "rich" to you?

All the presidents I'm old enough to remember have been garbage for one reason or another.

Trump is the second-favorite of my lifetime. All the rest are tied for first.

Donald Trump’s here, folks!

58 years. Joe Biden has been a good president. The country is in a better place now than it was under any other administration. Democrats are strong and united. I'm sad the GOP has decided to tie themselves to MAGA. Not just to Trump but MAGA, and anything anti-science, anti-intelligence. We need two healthy parties to function. Owning the libs is not policy. Thank you voters for putting your trust in Democrats.

Older people who came from money or had help from their parents are better than ever but anyone who didn't have good parents, a good job, or didn't buy a house yet is experiencing layoffs and the layoffs have been ongoing.

While biden's administration is admiring aliens from outer space the rest of the folks under 45 are experiencing tech layoffs and the ever increasing prices of rent and cost of living in general. Driving a clunker? It's too late to buy a used one at a decent price.

I’ve never met a Hispanic named Ronald or Reagan for that matter.

Yes, you probably think most of us are named Maria and Jose. My relatives have been in DC since the 1970's and I go by what they tell me.
