Menopause doctor in DC/MD

Anonymous
I made an appointment with Dr. Kathryn Marko per another recommendation on DCUM. It takes several months to get in, but I feel like it's worth it. I'd rather wait until February than waste my time with someone who isn't as knowledgeable, or who hasn't made it a priority to research.

There are doctors who specialize in Menopause despite there being a severe lack of focus on women's health in this country. I had relatively uneventful perimenopause, but full on menopause has really negatively impacted my life--anxiety, severe depression (never experienced before), gained a lot of weight, brain fog, going to restroom all the time. I'm way too young to accept dealing with that for the rest of my life. I still have adolescent kids to keep up with!

It's BS that anyone would suggest it's not worth trying to seek treatment or get relief. You matter. Your health matters. Just focus on that. Don't listen to some of the unkind, unhelpful responses here. Good luck, OP. I hope you get some relief soon.

That could have been my recommendation. I've mentioned her several times over the years - thanks to Dr. Marko my menopause and HRT experience has been stress free and easy for the last 9 years. She is so compassionate and a good listener.

It is a normal occurrence that every single female will transition through. It isn’t a pathological disease process.

So is menarche. So is pregnancy for 90% of us or more. Medical care is still involved.

If you are willing to travel to NOVA - Dr. Camilla Hersh in Reston is fabulous and takes insurance.
