Menopause doctor in DC/MD

Anonymous
Is there such a thing as a menopause doctor? Well, there should be. I have a good primary care physician but am between GYNs, hoping to find someone who specializes in this. Thanks in advance!

Try using the NAMS locator tool, if yo don’t get recommendations.

I don’t get it, what are you wanting? Menopause isn’t a disease and doesn’t need treatment

It is a life changing event. Some of us go through it with minimal issues.

Some have significant life limiting symptoms.

For me, I would wake at night between 1-4 soaking the bed with sweat and stay awake for two to three hours.

My vulva would tear when I wiped.

I could no longer orgasm consistently and when I did more than half the time there was no good feeling.

I was 45 when things started. 47 when a doctor told me I didn’t have to live like this. After three months on HRT, my symptoms resolved.

I am not unique. Some experience perimenopause and menopause in a very different way that you did.

Don’t let people try to tell you it’s not something you should seek help for. Not everyone has an easy time. There is zero reason to suffer.

Amazing how this same question seems to get asked, and answered in exactly the same way, every few days!

It’s almost like women aren’t well-informed about peri-menopause and need to reach out to the community when weird stuff starts happening because their own doctors don’t have current research on it.

Every day even! Thank goodness it's the same question and answer every time!

It is a normal occurrence that every single female will transition through. It isn’t a pathological disease process.

It does have significant negative symptoms for some women. Stop being obtuse.

I am thankful people are giving recommendations for docs in the areas requested. It’s helpful.

You can simply not open the thread if you don’t know a gynecologist in x or y or z area and will clearly be triggered by it. There are so many other threads you can click on in this sub-forum.

It's almost as if...someone has a reason to post the same question and answers over and over.
