There is no letting him off the hook other than by his fans I guess. But if you listened to the tapes, Heard was a calculated, manipulative abuser and she lied and gave a very dramatic performance on the stand. He lied less, was less dramatic, and was more of an angry reactive drunk than a calculating abusive manipulator. So nothing wrong with widely condemning her. I personally wouldn't waste breath defending either of them - they both acted horribly and lack character.

My thoughts exactly.

Like, their mutual abuses of each other goes way beyond "trauma reaction" and into Psychopath Territory. I've had some messy fights in relationships, due to my dysfunctions and my partner's dysfunctions, and that's human and normal. Human messiness is normal? Depp and Heard? That's taking it to completely new level, and I don't buy that it's trauma or addiction. They are a pair of psychopaths.

She obviously was recording him all.the.time for a reason: documenting or entrapping him. Who knows, who cares? Thank God they didn't procreate.

I only watched two of the three episodes and the whole thing was a mess. I would empathize and believe Amber Heard and then they would play some tape and she sounded just as crazy.

The one part I didn’t really understand was her alleging her sexually assaulted her with an object. Was there no police investigation or anything? I just couldn’t follow this part being mentioned but not proven or disproven.

She didn't report it at the time, and there was no physical evidence. He had a really ugly streak when drunk and/or high, so who knows. Even though she may have embellished at times, I found myself believing her more than him. Though I also find it credible he may not always have remembered the details of his actions.

This topic is so last year. Who cares?

Netflix has a series out about the trial. I like Johnny Depp. He was abusive to her.

This. They're both abusive creeps. People have no empathy for her because she was so manipulative and stayed to try to entrap him instead of just leaving. They had no children together for her to try to make a case for sole custody. There was no reason for her to stay and keep documenting him and trying to manufacture evidence of his abuse. She was just trying to get more money from him and propel herself to fame as a victim, when in fact she's also an abuser.

That said, the support for Johnny Depp is disgusting. He may not have lied like Heard did, but they're both horrible people.

+1 And the BS about her daring to be an imperfect victim who didn't just take it but fought back, and at times gave as good as she got. Nothing about that obviates the fact that he did abuse her.

The London verdict got it right. She had sh*tty lawyers, should have won this case too.

I liked the language, and agree with it--that the claims of abuse were "substantially true."

His low morals attorney girl was in it to win it. The Trump nutters who sling shit on social media are the same people who dragged Heard down on social media. Awful injustice by every measure.

This sounds like an AI response to write a hateful message about Depp and include Trump in it!

It was mentioned that they got married without having a pre-nup and it was expected that Amber would sign a post-nup shortly after the wedding, but she refused or balked and that’s when everything went downhill. They dated for something like six years; how on earth were none of his lawyers or the bajillion other people around him able to convince him that was a bad idea?
