Great news, since all bodies are just alike. |
Pretty much every area school district: no outdoor activities today or tomorrow, not safe. BASIS admin: We are aware that some local schools have canceled outside activities, but I have decided to carry on with the current plan of walking outside with your 5th grade kiddos for a couple of hours tomorrow. We did it today, and it wasn't too bad, even with my asthma. Masks help and sunglasses do too. If you're too worried about your child, please have them out of the building by 10am somehow, but make sure they are in the building on time in the morning, since they have testing that won't count for their grade and you won't even see. Toodaloo! |
My favorite part was the suggestion that if you’re concerned about your children breathing air for four straight hours that the EPA, the DC govt and everyone else in the city has decided is unsafe, then you should go ahead and drop them off at 8:15 for non-essential testing and then pick them up at 9:30 because there is nobody in the building who can watch kids who opt out of the field trip. WTF!!!!! |
| Have your kid wear a mask outdoors, which filters out the PM. Problem solved. Good grief. |
Honest question: is the air quality indoors that different from outdoors? Because otherwise what's the point of indoor PE? |
+1 I get that the air quality was not good but the level of hysterics and manipulating information is much more dangerous and alarming to me. |
Yes, it's different. |
I’m sure there are still exceptions but yes in most schools indoor air quality will be better. Any central air circulation pushes air through filters and the stand alone HEPA filters bought for the pandemic also work on this smoke pollution. — DCPS teacher keeping the window closed and running the HEPA filter in their room |
-1 It’s not hysterics to follow health guidance, Trumper. |
Yeah.....there it is. Same covid plays, different day. "go damage yourself and your children" is a rude, unnecessary thing to say. |
I am the poster who suggested that you go damage your children. I meant to say “continue to damage your children” since given your hostile posture and obvious personality issues, I’m sure that ship has sailed. Feel free to call me rude based on my response to your rude response- I’ll feel free to call you out for your destructive behavior. Also it was in response to a rude and unnecessary comment calling me hysterical for being concerned about my children (based on their medical condition) given the warnings from the EPA etc. |
You will probably notice it tomorrow, increase congestion and a sore throat. But you won’t notice lung damage obviously. If you want to make bad choices, go right ahead. |
| It’s really bad out today. Officially AQI is 247 for DC. Can’t imagine any schools will have kids outside today. |
This started with someone saying "Please keep your kid home". You can see this, because the you can see the entire prior convo. That's not calling you hysterical. You seem SUPER escalated and want to pick a fight. It's just....weird. Maybe do some meditation or something. |
Today is their last day. |
