If the DCPS school has a decent HVAC system, it might be safer for kids to be in the school than home. However, that's certainly not all schools.

I get that the air quality was not good but the level of hysterics and manipulating information is much more dangerous and alarming to me.

If you are trying to protect kids from the outside air it isn't clear at all that closing schools would help. Lots of kids are likely to continue to go outside, or they don't necessarily have better air quality inside their homes than in schools.

But closing schools definitely DOES have downsides. So no clear benefit + definite costs = bad idea.

Respiratory conditions such as asthma are more common in minority communities, which also have less access to reliable insurance coverage or primary care.

Actually during the period of purple air, it was like smoking 10 cigarettes. Going outside for a short time might not be a big deal for you, but for my kids medical profile and my medical profile it is a big deal.
