'No Pee Zone' sign on the grass between sidewalk and road = Ugly neighbors

You’re right. Your dog is free to crap on my lawn and then dig up my lawn trying to bury it. You are absolutely right. Why not, everyone else does.
If you don’t train your dog, I will.

We’re not talking about people’s yards.

My HOA requires homeowners to maintain that strip of grass. Homeowners are free to do what it takes to make that happen. A side effect of that could be training your dog for you. And you’ll never know.

I was just remembering an old neighbor we had. Poor guy suffered from dementia and would use our front door as a toilet. This happened any time of the day or night. We ignored it.
But take your obnoxious dog and have them go to the bathroom on any part of my landscape that I am responsible for and I’ll take action.

Not OP but agree. Not my favorite thing but most owners clean up and as noted that strip doesn’t belong to them. The signs attract male dogs, so it defeats the purpose.

How does your male dog know the sign asks them not to pee. The sign could say it was chemically treated. Can your dog read? Do female dogs piss on the lawn because they can’t read?

The signs asking you to pick up are fine and realistic.

Guess what kills all the plant life in the box? Dog pee. And once me dog pees there, the entire neighborhood of dogs has to pee there just to mark it.

Dogs have destroyed part of my yard. I like my neighbors so I don’t say much. But yes, dogs can be trained not to pee certain places. Owners are just lazy and think everyone adores their canine.

Humans can be such (totally correct) morons.

You don’t even make sense in your rambling post. By the way, you maintain but don’t own that strip- at least not in Arlington or any other place I’ve lived in the DmV

We live in Arlington and when they put sidewalk in our neighborhood, we had to sign a letter saying, we no longer own the part of our yard from the sidewalk to the road.

Exactly- county can dig up that section at any time without notice

My city requires me to clear snow from the sidewalk in front of my house, but that doesn’t mean that I own it. You’re maintaining a public easement.

I can't agree more.

My dog cannot read. I don’t allow him to pee on a lawn but will let him on that strip of the other side of the sidewalk that doesn’t belong to the owner. If there is a sign there, he is drawn to it. Some females mark as well. Not sure if they can read, my experience is limited to males.

My dog is blind and still finds vertical objects to mark. It’s their instinct. I don’t let my dog mark on temporary signs someone will have to collect and therefore, touch, like signs for open houses or political campaigns — but he sure would if I let him.

Have your dog do their business in your yard. Why do you think you’re entitled to have your dog go in other peoples property.

My dog leaves alone other peoples property ... He just marks up the tree box that is public property.

My female cannot read but can pee on command. She only poops in our own yard when no one is looking.

In DC row houses you "own" to your front door but need to maintain the front walk and tree boxes. You can literally come home and the city will have dug up your entire front yard -- brick and all between sidewalk and house. They are supposed to return it to the way it was but if you have plantings. Gone.

Not sure about other parts of the city since we have only owned row houses on the Hill.
