I dunno, this cape/cloak thing is giving me Handmaid’s Tale vibes. Charlotte herself is of course adorable.

I thought Star Wars.

Color scheme is very Snow White - do they have to wear red and blue?

She looks like a commemorative stamp from the French Revolution

There’s no pleasing you all. It’s been 70 years since the last coronation. You’d all be screaming bloody murder if they went out and got more furs to make new robes. The colors represent the Union Jack, and ladies of the peerage traditionally wear white underneath their robes. There also used to be a portion of the coronation where when the king was crowned, the peers would then put on their coronets and the ladies would do so when the queen was crowned. None of that was going on. Sophie also didn’t wear a tiara.

Camilla didn't want any other women wearing tiaras. Kate came up with this as a workaround.

are you making this up? It had to do with the attire of the day.

The headpiece looks frightful.

Her headpiece was so gorgeous.

The Significance: Middleton also demonstrated that she's always capable of surprising her fans with her fashion choices. She eschewed the predictions that she would wear a traditional tiara to the coronation, and instead, chose a silver headpiece by Jess Collett x Alexander McQueen, featuring embroidery work of rose, thistle, daffodil, and shamrock symbolizing the four nations of the UK.

Not true, I would be pleased by abdication and the end of the monarchy! They can wear whatever stupid outfits they want to the the abdication and I won't say a word about how pompous and ridiculous and anachronistic they look.

At a coronation... eh, they can suck it up while I make fun of their silly clothes.

I like the headband things, especially on Charlotte, but I’m sad we didn’t get to see the tiaras. As someone up thread said, this family owns sooooo much jewelry buying new for this type of occasion seems silly. Reuse is a cornerstone of green policy after all! And I want to see the pretty tiaras of course 😉

That being said, King Charles III is a lot older than me so I expect I’ll get to witness another coronation in my lifetime assuming the whole system doesn’t get dismantled.

She should have worn the Cambridge Lover’s Knot tiara. It would have been a perfect tribute to Diana too.
