The man is meh. The woman definitely

He's giving Elvis vibes. Not in a good way.

Totally disagree. Kate looked absolutely perfect and Charlotte looked adorable. The floral wreaths were stunning.

You forgot Penny with the State sword

DP. Yes, I forgot about her! Loved her outfit.

She looks amazingly young! Must be that beautiful English complexion.

I recently saw this post on the coronation fashion. It’s a long one, but scroll thru the history of crowns to the halfway point. This blog offers many pictures that I hadn’t seen. Enjoy.

There’s some picture of her at some other point in the day with a headband on that had a little bow. I guessing she didn’t like it and took it off?

Totally agree with the pp talking about why this was scaled down. It’s fine to say that, but don’t claim it’s being they are “going green” when Kate commissioned new items. The PR people were really pushing the idea that Kate was going to wear a flower crown all week as a an eco statement. Every seems to see through it. Camilla said no tiaras. It’s stupid, but it is what it is.

Charles and Camilla are the most unpopular royals in modern times and they can’t stand it.

She has the stupid looking bow on, you can barely see it but its there. Why are First Ladies willing to participate in the Royal stuff but not go all in on the hat?

The bow doesn't bother me.

I hate it. Jill Biden would look good in a hat. She should have just gone for it.

The gloves are clearly an afterthought and the entire top is just not tailored right. It's not horrible, but it's not as good as it should be.

Agreed. Honestly I think the bow is better suited for someone younger. It has a Hello Kitty vibe.

I agree. She also needed some jewelry/accessories to break up the monochrome.

Swoon! She is stunning. Love everything about the look

The black knee high socks and loafers are jarring

You do know it's a traditional outfit right? It's like b$itching about Santa's red suit or the Pope's robes.

Some of the posters responding to this thread seem to think all of the elements of some of the attire, including the family jewels such as crowns from the 1600s, were recently designed for the modern royal family. It’s comical.

Also the queen in the long blue dress.

The headpiece looks frightful.

I agree. I don’t get why she would wear this when she has so much beautiful jewelry she already owns or can borrow. This looks like something on the shelf at David’s Bridal

Perfection.

Such a thoughtfully prepared outfit. I had forgotten how much I love that shade of purple and pairing it with the turquoise? color,

+1
This was one of my favorites. That purple/turquoise combo is divine.

Agreed!! I’m in love with that outfit and the color combo. The dress and heels are so classy and elegant. The purple and turquoise pairing are unique and stunning.

And then I read on Twitter that they are saying it was part of a "going green" theme that is supposed to be part of Charles' reign? That makes no sense -- having a new piece of jewelry made when you have loads of existing jewelry is not "green" just because the new jewelry looks like a glittery plant.

One of the main things the coronation wardrobe did was make Charles and Camilla look even older than they are, and make William and Kate look youthful and really regal, and I can't help but wonder if this was by [someone's] design. I am anti-monarchy so I hope the whole thing falls apart, but Charles really does not come off looking like the face of anything "new" here. As a casual observer, Kate seems like the sartorial star of the event, followed by Princess Anne, which can't be what Charles (or Camilla) wants.

Well, they are old, therefore, they look old. If he lives another 20+ yrs, William and Kate won’t look like spring chickens at their coronation either

I love that dress. And I love that the fabric is a traditional African print. Very beautiful. That and purple dress are my favs.
